Firstly, I'm well aware that theres a very recent thread on this topic, but I'm also looking for some advice on it.

Secondly, I know tattoos aren't everyone's thing, and thats fine, but I'm certain on getting one so please keep this about constructive tattoo suggestions and not trying to persuade me not to get one.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been on the edge of whether to get a tattoo or not for a while and I've now decided that I am getting one, but I'm not 100% on what I want and I don't want to get something that I'll regret later on.

I want a tattoo that means something to me personally and shows who I am. I'm only 19 so I haven't had a great deal of experiences in my life yet, but I'm going to list a few things about me in the 1st spoiler below and then a few ideas I had in my mind in the 2nd. I'm looking for anyone's input on what they think about an idea or even project some of their own.

-I'm a huge nerd/geek and proud of it
-Some of my favorite video game characters are: Link, Samus, GLaDOS, Frog (Chrono Trigger), Kefka, Sabin (FF6), Mog (FF6), Fran (FF12), Vivi (FF9), Zelda/Shiek, and Red XIII (FF7)
-My favorite anime is Slayers which was also the 1st anime I ever watched
-I (kinda) play guitar and am heavily involved with music in general (mostly heavy metal)
-some of my favorite bands are: A Perfect Circle/Tool, Dethklok, Murderdolls, The Epilogues, Gorillaz, In This Moment, Nightwish, Otep, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Seether, Nirvana, and Weezer
-I'm a (mostly) closeted bisexual (not sure if I'd want anything flat out stating that, but possibly something alluding to it)
-I like anthropomorphic characters / catgirls / catboys
-I really like to draw
-I have dreams of working in the video game industry as computer animation / graphic designer / something like that
-I like 'goth' styles and sometimes 'emo'
-I'm NOT religous
-My number is 13 (if I put it in something like a username I use XIII a lot of times)
-video games, d&d, magic the gathering, and escapist are my life

-Triforce (originally I had thought back of hand, but decided that arm or back would be better for appearance and pain reasons)
-Link doing either a down strike or coming out of a spin attack on my bicep or forearm
-A full Zelda homage on my back with Zelda, Link, and Gannon in front of the triforce
-My nickname ("Robs") done in the font style that "MAGIC" is written on MTG cards on either my arm or back
-Lina Inverse and/or Gourry Gabriev and/or Zelgodis (from Slayers) on my back in a pose
-The Aperture Science logo or the companion cube somewhere on one of my arms
-16bit Kefka in the finger-wag pose on my bicep
-some random cat girl
-Red XIII from FF7 somewhere (maybe upper chest?)
-The character Noodle from the Gorillaz videos with her bass guitar

There ya go. I want to thank anyone who took the time to read this and really appreciate any input you can give. Also, since this is my 1st tattoo, if theres any advice other than the obvious (i.e. go to clean place, be 100% sure, etc.) then it's much appreciated.

I've seen some really nice lateralus tattoos on people and they tend to come out pretty well. Never seen A perfect Circle tattoo before though so might be good if can think of something cool enough to ink thats related to them. Would be a pretty unique tattoo that one would be.

-Triforce (originally I had thought back of hand, but decided that arm or back would be better for appearance and pain reasons) - Do not get this done unless you are seriously in love with Zelda games. It could be your favorite game in the world, but how much you wanna bet this is gonna turn out to be regretful for you later?

-Link doing either a down strike or coming out of a spin attack on my bicep or forearm - Same reasoning as Triforce.

-A full Zelda homage on my back with Zelda, Link, and Gannon in front of the triforce - Same reasoning as Triforce

The Triforce idea however is the best out of these three

-My nickname ("Robs") done in the font style that "MAGIC" is written on MTG cards on either my arm or back - This is actually not a bad idea at all. Would get it done.

-Lina Inverse and/or Gourry Gabriev and/or Zelgodis (from Slayers) on my back in a pose - Dunno the character so can't say.

-The Aperture Science logo or the companion cube somewhere on one of my arms - I like this one, I would get it done if I had the money.

-16bit Kefka in the finger-wag pose on my bicep - I seriously hate this idea. Something about it seems awful.

-some random cat girl - No. You will most likely end up on one of those terrible tattoo sites that people laugh at, unless you or your artist can think of a sick design.

-Red XIII from FF7 somewhere (maybe upper chest?) - Eh

-The character Noodle from the Gorillaz videos with her bass guitar - Perhaps

My thoughts on those because I have talked to my friend and other artists and unless its really well done some of those tattoo ideas might get you plain laughed at and that sucks after spending money and time. As for input don't just be 100% sure, but 200% sure. Keep in mind that cover up pieces should you choose to get one are about three times bigger then the original piece. Have the tattoo mean something, doesn't even have to be a good meaning. Can be anything at all like my first tattoo is something to remember the time I spent visiting my family in Russia for a summer. Also make sure your artist is someone thats good. Some tattoo shops are pretty nice looking, but they employees show up drunk and I have heard terrible tattoo stories from friends in training. Otherwise just have fun with it, don't take everything I said too literally and rather think of them as guidelines. Enjoy your piece and make it something unique. Put your own spin on it or ask the artist if he can do something to it.

My friend's friend actually has the APC emblem done on his back with the Lateralus eye in the center of it which looks really cool. Something involving Tool or APC is definitely somewhere near the top of my possible design list. Thanks.

I really like the nickname idea as well as it's unique and has a meaning. I'm fairly (180%) certain that that is what I'm going to chose for my 1st. As for the Zelda stuff, I'm a Zelda fanboy so Nintendo could drive the franchise into the ground and I'd still harbor love for OoT, WW, TP, LttP, etc., but yeah I completely agree with your reasonings.

Oh, and theres a guy I know who probably wishes he had taken advice on going to a good place. My rural town had a tattoo parlor open up and was doing pretty cheap tattoos. The guy went to get "Strength and Honor" spread across his back and the girl giving the tattoo misspelled strength as "Stragnth". His wasn't the only one they messed up and eventually closed.

Thanks for the opinions/advice.
