not really, all they disproved was the fable of Archimedes burning the Roman invasion fleet with mirrors.

Still, this guy really needs to learn about safety. He would make a poor villain if it killed him.

It's a figure of speech, I guess. I think the "Death Ray" creator was refering to the fact that there are 5000 mirrors reflecting 5000 different rays of the sun into one focal point.

Also, I can't wait until he creates another Death Ray with over 9000 mirrors

Good ol Archimedes Death Ray, and rather a spiffing one. Only setback I can see at the moment is the fact it has an effective range of about a foot.

Anyone else notice how the wood ignited then instantly went out when out of the focal point? That with his exaggerations (5000 suns, instantly boil concrete) means I'm going to wait to believe it until myth busters does it.

No, they proved setting a a ship, on fire isnt possible with an army holding mirrors. This had a tigher focal point, allowing it to heat the materails much more efficiently.
