So, I had avoided this problem a long time somehow.
But it seems the framerate bug was an inevitability. I was disappointed that around the time my savefile got to 10 MBs, I too was stuck with a jerky slideshow framerate.
Then I got an idea. It does this because it has to keep track of a lot of stuff. But, my save file somehow gets smaller sometimes. Then I remembered: this sort of problem happened on Morrowind on the XBOX too, and there was a fix: Don't leave corpses everywhere, and wait about 30 days in-game. Yeah, I know, it's frustrating, but hey, it really doesn't matter in any game since Daggerfall what month it is, so who cares, right?
In Morrowind for the XBOX, the loading times became atrocious, and eventually the game only actually loaded half the time, sometimes getting completely frozen.
And waiting 24 hours 30 times in a row, while it didn't get rid of coprses (You had to diligently click "dispose of corpse") it DID close doors, reset scaled dungeons, etc. Basically it cleared the cache, making all the junk that it kept track of go away.
So, I tried this in desperation in Skyrim. I hit "wait 24 hours", then did it again, then again, and again. Took a while, so I just popped in Men in Black and sat there watching. No sooner than Will Smith was suiting up for the first time and lo and behold, every dungeon was reset, every door closed, corpses faded away, and my filesize got to a mere 4mb.
And my framerate was solid again.
So, even though it's annoying, give this a try. Wait 24 hours 30 times, then start playing more. Tell me if it works for other people too.
