Wow. Never did I think I would see a full trailer, complete with flashy transitions and bright, stylized text, for Tetris. Much less 1080p, 5.1 Surround Sound Tetris. If they charge more than a couple of bucks for this, regardless of the polish, it's just silly. I can play the same game with the same music and same modes on just about every device I can plug into my wall. Hell, I bet I can play it on my toaster!

EDIT:
You have *GOT* to be kidding me O_O... were you aware that video existed before you made your joke? or was it pure coincidence?
I honestly did not know. I made the joke, got curious, googled "tetris on a toaster", and found my way to that video.

Yeah the whole gaming world all needed blocks falling down and vanishing in 1920 x 1080 resolution with 5 channels of audio. So you can hear a block falling down with so much immersion it'll rock your socks off. The graphical detail of those L shaped blocks will look so real you'll think you're constructing the white house and blowing up some terrorist's organization
The 5 channels are nice, but the subwoofer is what sold me. I want my neighbors to know that I just had a 4 row completion just from their windows breaking.

This.

Really, they're just plain blocks. What's 1080p supposed to do beside give graphics whores there fix?
It's like the bit wars. Sony has pitched it's tent frimly in the "Make arbitrary claims about graphics" camp.
It lures in magpies.

While I myself enjoy the look of good graphics, and appreciate they are a selling point to to people, because games are still a business that involve aesthetics, like movies, to lure people in, it seems so stupid advertising higher quality for Tetris.
Seriously, Tetris, the game that might be the last game on earth to get better graphics?
Honestly, the only reason it seems like they added 1080p is for people to get it because it looks shiny, and a question, is there really a huge difference between 720p and 1080p, or do people get it because they assume bigger numbers means better?

how sad....

what makes this even sadder, the PS3 cannot even compete with this generation's graphical technology.

This reminds me of Tetris DS, a game I actually own and it's a fun game too. It's full of Nintendo characters.

Haters gonna hate. I, for one, will be getting this. I love me some tetris. It's a game I can download now and still be playing 50 years from now on my death bed. Sorry Xbots, you know you want it. Don't gotta be bitter and call it excessive though. Y'all just jealous.
Please tell me this is satire. Honestly, why would you need to get it on a PS3 when you can even get it for a cell phone, or computer?

Co-op Tetris!
You do know on the NES version their was code with the game genie that allowed that (one player would rotate the blocks horizontally and the other player verticlely)? That ain't new.

The best version ever? NAY I SAY! The best Tetris, like everything else, was on the Nintendo 64. It was called Tetrisphere. Man I miss the good times.

I can see that split screen co-op mode ending friendships and destroying families... awesome!

Ugh.... wah?

While we're at it, why not re-release pong and give it 7.1 surround sound, 3D, and a jar of peanut butter. Wait, I could be on to something here...

Honestly though, I have my PS3 for God of War and Killzone[footnote]Only to name a scant few examples.[/footnote], not for a game that looks pretty much identical to one on my phone... that I downloaded for free. The HD bells and whistles do little but warrant the "Excessive" in the title. I find the trailer quite funny though as it tries to paint this epic game out of some old classic given a digital car wash.

"Did you hear that line block's epic landing?!? Ho-ly Sheeeeeeeeeeeeht...."

Exactly, that was my problem when the PS3 dropped, it had an insane price because of a ton of shit it didn't need, Sony seems to think price is no object.

You see it in the PSPGo too "Wait, you can just repurchase all of your old games, or are you POOR or something lolololol:

A few things, there was a competitve Tetris game for the Mac 7. It's my favourite Tetris ever.

Next, 1080p? 5.1 surround sound? WHY?! A few months ago I downloaded the original Game Boy version of Tetris, (you know, black and white, very Russian looking) still probably better than this.
