This turns our Demoman into less of a defensive/I'ma kill your shit Engineer class and into a full-blown melee fighter, which doesn't really have any connections to explosives at all, now does it? If they wanted to make a melee class, why don't they just make an all new class based around melee instead of converting a pre-existing one?
24/7 sword-and-shield-only servers are going to be fun.
Maybe a mace and a shield? Or throwing axes? Or maybe halberds (I thinks that's what they're called)?Calhoun347 said:This will make me play Demoman.
Can't wait to see what Valve Cooks up for the Soldier.
Yep saw that as well, and me and my clan correcty guessed that the Demoman would get a Claymore, we didn't guess the shield tho... I personally think its broken the class a bit to be rid of the sticky launcher as that was effectivly the class mechanic. While they've sort of changed mechanics of some classes (such as the spy with his different watches) all others have kept in the same area of fighting.Tenmar said:I was reading Valve's site and I noticed this link hidden in their comic. With the sword being offered it appears that this Valve ad might show more potential weapons.

You probably will get more explosives, you know, for the third thing.Kollega said:I still hope the shield is not real thing. I want some more explosives, dammit! The sword sounds awesome, though.
And image does not work.
The Chargin’ Targe solves a centuries-old Scottish riddle, which is that shields exist. True, the shield might block the occasional sword blow. However, they are essentially weapons to be used for hiding behind, and this is a concept the average Scotsman does not understand. “If I were to pick up this cowering-plate, I would have to put down my second sword,” a Scotsman thinks. “And surely that is madness.”
How about this?CantFaketheFunk said:This would also be acceptable, too [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjCpu71ehP0].
Leave the poor kid alone. He's just sore 'coz he's still waiting for his Engie blimp update.AceDiamond said:...the guard dog update wasn't even theirs nor was it on their site. Did we ever get the guarddog? Or any of the other crap they keep babbling about on their blog?
Most likely is the sword / shield a tradeoff for the bottle as the bonus weapon if demo wins
it was mentioned here http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=2851AceDiamond said:...the guard dog update wasn't even theirs nor was it on their site.
