The Babes of Duke Nukem Do Spring Break

The babes of Duke Nukem Forever [http://www.amazon.com/Duke-Nukem-Forever-Pc/dp/B002I0JAJ2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1299774119&sr=8-1] are going on spring break, with appearances on both the East and West Coasts and a two-week-long "Booty Shake Contest" in Panama City.

"The Babes of Duke Nukem want to party with you at Spring Break," according to the promo at dukenukemforever.com [http://www.dukenukemforever.com/springbreak]. Of course that's not true; the babes will jiggle and giggle and hang around because they're being paid to, not because spending time with a bunch of nervous, awkward Duke Nukem fans is something they've dreamed of doing since the day they turned 18. But hey, we take what we can get and what we can get from this is the opportunity to have pictures taken with some pretty ladies, score some loot and party like the King - although I think they mean the Duke.

On the East Coast, Duke's babes will bring their Hummers to New Orleans, Louisiana from March 5 to March 8; Panama City, Florida from March 11 to March 17; and Daytona Beach, Florida on March 19. On the Left Coast the festivities will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, from March 6 to 9; South Padre Island, Texas, from March 13 to March 16; and Lake Havasu, Arizona, from March 20 to March 23. "Duke's Booty Shake Contest" will happen every day at 3 pm local time from March 11 all the way to March 24 in Panama City.

And now, on behalf of gamers everywhere who won't be attending spring break this year, I'd just like to take a moment to say how much I sincerely hope that underneath all this T&A and double entendres and ridiculous fratboy marketing, Gearbox actually has something decent to offer when Duke Nukem Forever comes out on May 3. The dog and pony show is impressive but it won't mean much if the game doesn't measure up.

Oh great! I can't wait to go down with my pickup truck, blasting AC/DC all the way. My friends and I will lounge on the impressive tailgate, cracking open some Coors Light, and trying to catch babes' eyes. I'm already growing out my mullet, so it will sway in the wind to the glorious guitars of Poison and White Tiger. Maybe I can even sneak a kiss from my cousin Sally!

At the end of the day, we'll ask the babes to go see a monster truck show, or if we're lucky, Nascar. Because nothing beats Nascar. After, we can stop by Hooters. For the wings, of course!;) Then when all is said and done, we can go home and play Duke Nukem: Forever together before completing the hillbilly mating ritual for the day.

Still makes me wonder if the excessive over-the-top satirical hedonistic chauvinism isn't a front for real, barely concealed hedonistic chauvinism. My guess is, DUH.

Why does Spring Break suddenly not sound like a normal week of vacation? Oh well... *continues to look forward to the Easter vacation, as it is the only time off before summer vacation I'll get...*

I think you're reading too much into it...if you think they've tried concealing it.

Awww...A little late on this article, Vegas is the only place I might feel like going to at the moment, but we're already past the dates on that one :(

What is the deal with these company dumping out all this money to advertise games?! AHAHAHA they don't do this kind of thing for movies!(to me knowledge) I love Duke Nukem and all, but i can't see it breaking any real sale records.

Extra credits are gonna be piseed.
For sure - meanwhile on EC's episode this week: 'True Female Characters'.

It's why we cringe when explaining to non-gamers the merits of our medium and then have to apologise for stuff such as this and We Dare

As indicated by a few posters above, I guess Gearbox weren't among the people who saw the Open Letter to EA Marketing.

Damn, that sounds like a good time. Why don't we have that kind of thing in Louisiana? :(

Anyway, this advertising campaign is, in my eyes, shameful.
I never liked Duke Nukem in the first place, but my opinion of it sinks with every bit of news I hear about it.

Although it does raise an interesting point, we don't ask the film industry to defend themselves (as a whole) every time a porn film is made.

Very true, I think that's in part due to the fact that film has been in mainstream culture for so long now that people accept that there are various shades to the industry and 'each are distinctly removed from each other' (yes, I realise that might be up for contention but from the perspective of the general public there's certainly a type of cinema that they're 'comfortable' with). Gaming, I think it's fair to say, is still the new kid on the block when it comes to artistic mediums and hence it's harder for people to grasp that we're already taking gaming in a host of various different directions and intentions rather than as a homogenous block that's not yet reached the stage where we start to consider various paths the medium could go down. Does that resonate with you?

Very true, but the reason we don't call out movies but do call out games is the very reason we have any kind of heat from the media at this moment. The majority of people can point to The Godfather or The Shawshank Redemption or Evil Dead 2 (Whatsup.) and recognize the appeal of movies and their separate genres. Meanwhile, games kind of all get thrown in the same pot because of lack of appreciation and understanding from the majority of consumers.

My own dad didn't even know horror games existed until I told him Silent Hill would freak him out. He just laughed and said he wanted to give it a try. Needless to say, he had a crash course in game horror that was incredibly satisfying to watch.

I am sorry but that is the most single misinformed statement I have ever heard in my 2 years on this site.
Now either you are trolling or you genuinely believe your statement which I must shoot down.
1. Game companies do this all the time at game Expos, Its called Booth Babes.
2. Its made by Gearbox and Published by 2k, Didn't know 9 year olds could not use Wikipedia.
3. The whole point of the game is to be an immature game.
