If the graphics are enhanced, does this mean I'll actually be able to see that ankheg plate armor lying on the ground?

With the widescreen mod AND TuTu available to upgrade the experience of Baldur's Gate I, it needs quite a lot of enhancing if I'm to get even vaguely interested in purchasing it again.

A more interesting development might have been to try a stand-alone expansion pack for Baldur's Gate II (Stand-alone in terms of story, rather than engine/etc) and see if there was any interest.

Huh, the site's actually available now...
(Ironically, the loading speed reminds me of the '90s...)
It has the announcement of the Enhanced Edition, and the message ?Stay tuned for more information.?.

This is still great news and Im going to buy it, however I really would not be surprised if there is a baldurs gate 3 on the way. the Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition is coincidently on its way announced this year at around the same time, which gives the impression that something is going on. Remember that wizards of the coast has a stake in both.

Maybe that is the enhanced eddition, instead of being based on the 2nd edition rules it will be enhanced with the 5th edition rules?

It doesn't seem like it will be 5th Edition, Trent Oster tweeted that:
"1st rule of #bgee Don't break the fun. We're using the 2nd Edition D&D rules."

I personally consider that good news.

So, what does "enhanced" mean? It does say that it will feature "a re-forged version of the Infinity Engine", but that could mean a glorified HD collection with gameplay tweaks or full remakes.

Unless this is indeed to port the game over to tablets (I shudder at the foolishness of it being ported to phones... because no matter how advanced phone screens are, teeny tiny sprites in the palm of my hand only serves to infuriate me with their teeny-ness), then I'm not interested in paying for remakes of things I can still buy (*cough*or download*cough*) for virtually little expense and a shiny new coat isn't really enough of a reason for me to pay a premium price for an old used car, to attempt an analogy.

Unless they add new quests, new characters, revamp the combat system and dialogue options to deepen the experience beyond "pre-battle conversation and posturing", then I'm happy with my classic collections on disc.

Someone let me know when someone gets around to making another planescape or Septerra Core 2.
