I don't have a problem with the fictional character being buff, but the reality is that asking an actor, who is NOT actually a magical amazon warrior capable of dead lifting tanks and throwing them the length of a football field, and leaping 300 yards into the sky, and punching holes in walls, to try and train to look like she can...is ultimately futile, because that's not possible. She's actual flesh and blood, and thus limited to the laws of physics and biology, so give the actors a break, because frankly there is no way for them to accurately reflect a humanoid body that could do that, and look even remotely close to human.

If the actor themselves choose to take some training, that's fine, but to demand it of the role, to the point of actually risking their health, and for the fans to vilify them for not living up to their standards, that's where I call bullshit. Like if Gal Gadot decides she wants to actually take some MMA training, and get legit ripped for fighting, and take actual combat training.
She kind of already has, you know since she did national service and all that.

Considering nobody thought she had the body to play WW, I'd say she didn't keep any "ripped" status, at least not up to the nerd standards at the time that film came out.

What I find especially ridiculous about the Gadot thing, is that she's the only superhero actress who has gotten this crap from nerds. The women who played Supergirl, Gamora, Black Widow or any of the female characters with super strength or hand-to-hand training didn't get this "where are her muscles" nonsense.

For me, it must be because her race is based on the Amazons and she is the only one of those mentioned that I watched. Except for Guardians of the Galaxy's Gamora, who, from a quick glance, doesn't appear very muscular in the comics either. I barely watch any superheroes or know anything about them. Batman is the exception. Working out more would have made Wonder Woman slightly better, but I still wouldn't have found it good.

I was more critical towards Scarlett's physique in Ghost in the Shell, since that's a franchise I know well.

The Amazons of myth aren't described as muscular. That's more of a common misconception. In fact, they're usually not drawn as being muscular in the comics.

They're usually drawn as muscular in my porn, and realistically they would be bigger than women who do nothing but sit around.

One of the first pictures I found when I searched "amazons wonder woman comic."

Edit: Finding plenty like this, actually.

And just because a woman does things other than sitting around doesn't mean she'd be built like your image either.

I would imagine amazons as having strong thighs and calves, since they'd be on foot as much as male soldiers of their time. Arms not as much, but still pretty fit if they're training with spears and swords often. Good waists, obviously, since that comes with running and walking often.

Dude, really? Also, did you even read the post with the article on Gal Gadot being pregnant while filming Wonder Woman and doing all of those stunts? You're setting goals and expectations way too high.Actors are people and humans. They can't follow a fandom nor yours every single will. That ain't right.

Back to Batman. I would not mind if Scott Adkins were to play Batman. He definitely fits the part and has a huge repertoire of fighting styles like Dark Knight himself. Plus, he's done two ninja films as the lead.

Doesn't hurt to read your own source thoroughly. Those were reshoots. The main action scenes with Gadot were done during principal filming. HOWEVER: before those reshoots she was on the set of Justice League, morning sickness and all.

While interesting, ultimately it doesn't matter. She's not an amazon, she's an actress, and this is just a job for a few months (possibly longer depending on the job) of her life. She then has to switch gears and go do something else, perhaps playing someone who isn't built like an MMA fighter. And then after that, maybe she's going to have to play someone overweight, all of which is just fantasy stuff to tell a story, that is ultimately fiction itself. So I don't really care if Gal Gadot slaps on a fat suit like Chris Hemsworth did for End Game, or pretends to have enough muscle mass to legit dead lift a vehicle, or any of that. It's fiction.

Not criticizing you specifically here, just replying that to me at least, when she was/wasn't jacked/unjacked, and preggers/unpreggers, isn't important. That's literally superficial details. For me, what's important , is does she sell BEING Wonder Woman to me? On the personality/motivation side? Because frankly, that's where the ACTING part of being an ACTOR comes into the equation. You can find just about any randomly hot brunette, put her through a muscle regimen, and get the body of WW, but if they can't act their way out of a paper bag, I'm not going to give a shit about how "true to comic" her look is.

For years leading up to the actual choice of Gadot, people would photoshop in other people they thought looked like Diana, but when I'm seeing the shot I'm thinking "yeah but, they aren't good actors, like at all." It would be the equivalent of child actors in my book. Sure you got a kid that can do martial arts to play Aang, good job. Can he act? Nope....oooh, *intake of breath* yeaaah, that's a problem."

Same difference. Point being that these people are still people. That's the point I'm trying to make. She did more than enough in acting and stunts. Like I said, no one should fall to the every single whim or will of a few unpleasable fan boys or fan girls. or with people who are just never pleased in general and want to whine about something. No one should take unnecessary health risks nor die so for fickle and superficial reasons.

Is he any good at acting?

Yes. He's improved a lot from when he first started. His acting is nothing special in the first two Ninja films, but you see improvement in the second Ninja movie. After those he highly improved. See Close Range and The Accident Man.

I think actors can buff up for roles. There's healthy ways to do it, and either they can spend some of their rich people cash on a fitness team for it, or they can stipulate it in their contract.

If Patterson isn't contractually obligated to present a certain physique as called by the director for the character, however, he has no moral obligation to do a thing, and getting ripped is a massive pain in the ass.

Whether the director should be calling for it is another matter. I'm not a fan of Batman the unstoppable combat master myself. I'd rather see a smarter Batman in his detective role, which isn't something the Bale movies did much with. You know, like DC stands for. If the movie isn't going to have him beating up a full room of a dozen bad guys, I don't see why he needs to be roided out.

In short, people just need to remember that the actors are human beings even if the characters they are playing are not.

Imo, Batman's detective skills have always been fairly overrated.

Okay lets watch this trailer:

And...holy shit, what did they do to the audio mixing?! I can't understand a word anyone says, between the way too loud for a trailer music, the constant SHTCK SHTCK SHTCK, the sound effects, and everyone was told to mumble their lines. If this trailer is representational of the actual movie's audio, just can it. Throw the whole thing out, you've made an literal incomprehensible mess.

Visually it does look good, and I assume the gas mask wearing guy who specializes in fear is meant to be the Riddler, 'cause no one in production ever read a comic book and knows the Riddler isn't Scarecrow. I still think Robert Pattinson would have made a much better Terry McGinnis, but alas the world hasn't caught up to me yet.

Overall incomprehensible/10, seriously guys fire the trailer studio and redo this entire trailer.

This doesn't seem excessive or unhealthy. Never realized she got so fit for Star Wars, because the robe covered up most of her. I'm not a fan of all the armor on Batman in most live action iterations anyway. I know it partly negates the need to build muscle, but it also takes away from the theatrical (in the classic sense) aspect of the character. Makes him look less like a man-bat and more like some future soldier.
