For me its metal gear solid, I mean the end cutscene is 30 minutes long at it all has such purpose and meaning, It has me feeling so connected to every character and to all the events. And somehow they managed to make an ending that did such a great franchise justice.

No More Heroes 1.

Made my brain go KA-SPLOO-Y!

Seriously, it took the fourth wall and beat it within an inch of it's life then killed it execution style. It was magnificent. :D

I'd have to say Red Dead Redemption. It's the only game in recent memory that made me cry.

IF they hadn't kept Kratos alive and kicking in GoW 1, I would say that's my favorite ending because it would have enough criteria to pass as a greek tragedy, which is awesome.

Red Dead Redemption has easily the best ending in my book.
Unfortunately it was ruined by the free-roam option following said ending. If the game had ended with John then it would have been awesome. The idea that the story should be picked up by Jack just ruined the whole thing as far as I'm concerned. I'd much rather a story arc have some sort of closure than drag out endlessly so that the 100% completionists can go around skinning armadillos for some meaningless achievement. Some games lend themselves to free-roam modes, but RDR was (despite being a sandbox game) massively story driven, and stories should reach a conclusion.

The ending to Persona 3 very heartbreaking, a culmination of the games central theme, and the ending song is spot on.

I did so love Portal 2's ending. The crazy finale, the epilogue, the ending song... everything. Not a single step out of place.

Also, honorable mention goes to Halo: Reach. Not a huge fan of the game or the series, but I did appreciate the ending. It was very well executed.

god there's just so many awesome ones...

I'll say final fantasy x gave me a tingle of sadness.

Kingdom Hearts 2 made me cry... beautiful music aswell. (Btw KH3 is shaping up to be the most epic end to a franchise ever :p)

Final Fantasy 8 ended... and I was like: 'Now what do I do with myself?!' I'd been playing it for so long, and I was so invested in the characters... It helped at the time that I knew they were making a sequel... Only it never came :(

There's tons of others... I love a good ending :p

I loved that ending, knowing you were going to die but prolonging it and hoping it just didnt happen, and then a true heroes ending.

I was a pretty big fan of the endings of the original Deus Ex.

Doing it Tong's way and creating a new dark age. Even though he said that would happen I was still thinking "Oh shit! Maybe I shouldn't have done that!" when he said something about the whole communications infrastructure coming down and he said "Find us!".

They did a good job of making me feel like I really changed the world.

Yes, the series did score some points with me with that ending. I used to believe the only good part of halo was the music, and I still consider the series to be terribly overrated, but Reach impressed me in more then one way.

OT: I'm going to go with the final case and it´s ending in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for all. That final case truly is nerve-wrecking.
