I don?t understand all the negativity about Duke Nukem. I liked the game and I know many people who liked it too. Maybe it?s that I am not a fan. A played the other DN games back in the day but I never waited for the new one. When I saw it I thought of it like an action movie where you relax and put your brain on hold. And I got what I wanted. I don?t know what people expected but this is not a bad game.

Always nice to see the "Junk Drawer" series. But I'm afraid that's not the last time we hear about Green Lantern. I'm sensing good ol' Bob adopted a new 'I hate you' movie, like Transformers and The Expendables were.

Nope

movie ain't even out in Sweden yet

But I found a clip on youtube
Ha ha now THAT makes a whole lot more sense. Tried getting an online clip after your comment and damned if it didn't take ages to find one that WB hadn't had pulled due to copyright! WTF!

WTF what the hell is wrong with Youngblood? I own many Youngblood comics including the first five issues. I like the style, the grittiness, and compared to other titles of the time was a bit more mature.

Must be his whole "The 90's sucked" mindset. I'll grant you not a lot of good came out of the 90's but not everything that was from that decade sucked.
Go check out Linkaras show "Atop The 4th Wall" review of Youngblood at www.thatguywiththeglasses.com
I don't mean to say you are wrong, but I have a feeling Bob and Linkara have about the same view on the 90's. Personaly I'm with Bob, I haven't read Yougblood myself, but the artwork and design is horrible, and most atempts to make something more "mature" I personally think are riddicoulus.

You missed the point of the Duke Nukem drama entirely. The game wasn't bad because our modern enlightened minds demand something more refined. No. The game was bad because it wasn't a Duke Nukem game. Too linear. No guns for the first half a God-forsaken hour of the game. Conservative supply of enemies. Too many fuffing about minigames. So on and so forth.

Had they made a decent sequel with open levels with good Serious Sam-style gameplay and solid weaponry ( especially without the shitting stupid 2 weapon limit ) everything would have been golden.

So 90% of "random whatever" is just telling people to stop being stupid about everything?

...Yeah, I can see that.

The shock with Duke Nukem Forever is that people was curious about what could justify 12 years of development. Turns out there was nothing in it to justify 12 years of development.
Too many people were expecting justification, but also the advertising went crazy trying to make it seem like some over-the-top badass game instead of a quick attempt to make sure those 12 years weren't a total loss.

To completely ignore the parts commenters have focused on, what's the appeal of big trouble in little China? It just came across as a cheesy 80's action flick with an obsession with the very 80's sfx of lightning...

I can't find anything on there being an actual movie coming out. Where did you hear that?
I can't discount the possibility that it was a publicity stunt but there is this announcement on richardcastle.net:
http://www.richardcastle.net/news/production-begins-heat-wave

Which followed on from this trailer that showed at the previous Comic-Con:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmkkEuNMde0

Now it's entirely possible that the IRL stuff was just to promote a Laura Prepon guest spot on the show, but that seems a little TOO meta after publishing the books mentioned on the show and then showing this trailer.
Everything in the trailer is from the show though. There's nothing that is either from new scenes or features Laura Prepon. I think the production crew just had fun editing stuff together. I don't think the movie is actually happening. It's a lot tougher to get a movie made than to write a pretty generic crime thriller novel.

I just wanted to thank you, MovieBob, for using a Fraggle Rock character as the thumbnail for this video. Bless you, sir, bless you.

By the way, though, I STILL haven't stopped waiting for Bruce to get his big break. *sigh*

I'm inclined to agree with the Duke Nukem bit. I do not have the nostalgia factor (though I do remember gazing wide-eyed when I was younger, while my brother played it) but I'm not surprised that it's not that good.

I was hoping Duke Nukem would be a...reboot of the classic game that I've heard about from my older siblings. Instead we have an outdated douchebag protagonist in a poorly done shoot em up porno. The reviews of both the green lantern and duke nukem (not just yours)have prevented me from waisting my money.
