Just gotta throw in my 2 cents.
I've played every console and handheld (and even recent touchpads) since nintendo. I've also played PC games and used PC's since nintendo days as well.
PC's win, end of story. Why? Keyboard and mouse.
and I love my consoles, dont get my wrong, but the only reason I buy them is to play the games that don't come out on PC.
All that stuff about wii and move doing what PC can do is just false. Metroid on wii cannot replace FPS on mouse + keyboard, even the move playing killzone 3 cant even come close (even though it is still better then the regular controllers).
And then you talk about being able to install word on the 360. First of all, you cant, but even if you COULD, how are you going to utilize that program? you will need a keyboard DEFINATELY, and at that point, probably a mouse too. want to select a specific word without it taking 10x longer then it should? MOUSE.
Touch pads are just starting to realize how much they just dont fit into a serious PC market, and now the ipads come w/ covers that prop your screen upright and sell portable keyboards to go with it, hell why not a mouse too. at that point your touch pad, IS A PC. touchpads do something unique and they should embrace that, but really they aren't going to replace PC's until they have some that FUNCTIONS better.
The truth is, until something comes out for controlling OS software that is BETTER then a keyboard and mouse, PC's and PC gaming will thrive, and even at that point, PC's would probably adopt those new controls into PC's, so really, I cant see PC's dying anytime soon. Also, Gabe Newell's bank account would like to say something about "PC gaming being dead". In fact, PC gaming probably hasn't been in a greater position then it is right now thanks to steam.
