"45 minutes into a 90 minutes movie" ... still quicker than the recent Godzilla turns up! Hey-o!

Wow, the original sounds really boring. How do you make a movie with a giant space chicken boring?!?!

And as for the sequel, all I can say is... damn.

I read that as an innuendo, given the pause between get it on, and mentioning the monster, coupled with Bob's earlier statement establishing that the French guy wants to boink his translator.
OT: So, reiterating that Godzilla 2014 suffered from an overabundance of white people, and informing us that (at least) two movies with a giant space chicken exist. 10/10, would watch again.

I saw Battle Royale and to have the evil teacher play a giant version of an asura fighting a giant chicken while North Korea holds the G8 hostage with a squad of korean idols gave me one reaction

That was one of the most surreal things i've seen

also, geez, Takeshi Kitano is a bloody polymath. Most people can't even be one of those things much less all of them.
He started out as a stand-up comedian, which is just so weird considering all the stone-cold killers he's portrayed since....

"Beat" Takeshi was his Manzai-name:

I was really hoping for a film where a major city is terrorised by a giant carnivorous letter "X".

Hey, it's a less dumb idea than "Sharknado". You could even try to make it into some allegory for suffering with dyslexia.

So, wait... Takeshi Kitano is in a movie where he turns into a giant monster and battles a reptilian space chicken? And then cuts it's head off?

God bless you, Takeshi. I totally forgive you for Takeshi's Challenge.

Uh, I'd managed to forget schlocktober was coming around. Time to find something else to watch of a Tuesday evening for the next month I guess.

If anyone wants more Takeshi Kitano, I'd highly recommend his version of Zatoichi. It's just awesome.

Takeshi Kitano as the saviour of the world, and the fight starts with him being pretty much "Yo monster! What's up with you?" I just... I need to watch this thing, also the French president... is pretty accurate I gotta say.

While you're all going on about Takeshi Kitano, I'm just realising that Kamen Rider Drake is in that weird(er) sequel. So it's not the first time for him dealing with aliens trying to destroy the planet anyway.

And then I realised that way too many Kamen Riders have been in Prince of Tennis musicals for it to be a coincidence...

Okay, the first one didn't look all that good, mostly because it was playing it too damn straight. I mean, seriously, you try to build a chicken-head kaiju as a legitimate sci-fi menace? Look, I understand why people get their jollies from bad movies that play dumb premises straight, but I come from the generation that can only bear watching crap like that if it's getting verbally torn to shreds by MST3K, The Nostalgia Critic, or some other internet celebrity writing all the jokes the original team SHOULD have when working with a premise that stupid.

But the sequel, on the other hand; oh-ho-ho BOY, does it look like a treat!! Having Gilala crash the G8 Summit (and one that really did take place, just for extra fun-facts to brag to my buddies about), with all the politicians giving spot-on national stereotype humor, before the conference gets highjacked by what has to be the hammiest Kim Jong-Il since Team America: World Police, and then watching a epic duel between Gilala and a summoned Japanese mountain god - fucking GENIUS!!! This is a film that doesn't just recognize it's own stupidity, but fully embraces it, and goes all guns-a-blazing with how over-the-top and ludicrous it is! Assuming I ever get to a movie night where the theme is 'Japanese bootlegs', I'd totally put the "Gilala Attacks the G8 summit" at the top of my list!

Thank you, Bob. I love Guilala. He's one of my favorite Kaiju. I know neither of these movies are known for being particularly good, but I still find them a lot of fun as far as Kaiju films go. I have a very nice figurine of him. It's actually one of the bigger jewels in the crown of my collection.

This is a great way to start off the month. This is gonna be a good year for Schlocktober, I can feel it.

The clips of the sequel had me laughing. Bring on the Mecha-Barbra-Streisand. We could make a porno.

Really Bob? A movie where a giant scaley space chicken does battle with a multi-armed golden god with the face of a famous japanese comedian is "soft" weird to you? Dear god we are in for a demented month aren't we?

That chicken X has nothing on the chicken Cuckoo from Ocarina of Time! :D

Yeeeesss.... about this movie... I've got nothing -.-
The first one seems like something you should watch before going to sleep and the second one looks sort of OK? It seems a bit like IronSky, but with a giant monster.

Takeshi Kitano gives no fucks. He just does things. Hell Bob even left out some things in his list of what Takeshi is.
