The new PG is kind of...annoying.

I miss the PG of V2 where she not only kicked some MAJOR ass, she also founded a company and used her connections to make the world a better place though SCIENCE.

That acknowledgement that 'my fists can't solve everything' is something you RARELY see out of most of these 'demigods'.
I agree. I'm currently developing a self published superhero piece and the main character has super strength and I did want her to be someone who could solve a lot of her problems with her fists but doesn't try to solve all of them like that.

They should just hand the character over to Lauren Faust already!

We could make these comic book storyline into a drinking game.

Every time they reboot the thing - drink.
They kill someone - drink.
They bring them back to life - drink.

Lets think up more.
Everytime they mention something that happened before you could even bloody read - drink.

No need to flee, many are fans of her work here, and really, I see no way that could end poorly actually.

Sigh...... i don't know i kind of expected Bob to explain more about power girl, how many different versions of power girl there had been but it's ok i guess.

Yes the new 52 PG it's not the same PG we love, and it's not only because the costume which is horrible.... but the personality and the background changed to much , same happened to huntress, George Perez is killing PG........ i loved the Conner/Gray/Palmiotti Power Girl, she was funny and interesting, and even if it was to serious i still enjoyed the Winick/Prasetya, i think they should retire George Perez xD i also hated his art style in the new 52 Super Man. ohhh by the way...

Ah, CallMePo, that guy does good Power Girl work. I agree they should never have let the Conner/Gray/Palmiotti power trio be taken off the Power Girl run, because it was all things a superhero comic should be: fun, action packed, colorful and filled with interesting characters.

The best thing about Conner's art, is that woman knows faces. (All pics in spoilers cos they're big)

A fine example of the 'oh crap' face.

I'm not sure what to call the faces in here other than funny, but I like it because I hate The Big Bang Theory

Power Girl is annoyed and Satanna is smug, great expressions and a good payoff on the next page.

And this is the page that forever cemented Power Girl as awesome. Great expressions all around too

I've also not forgiven DC for seemingly axing the new Terra (Atlee) without explanation because the pair of them were a great double act.

I vaguely remember seeing somewhere that at one point the artist of the Power Girl comic decided to make her breasts slightly larger each issue to see how far he could go before being stopped by the editor or getting called out on it.

For as much as I like the show up front, the thing that stands out the most for me is the side cape. That is a sharp, sharp look.

Yeah anyways, the short blonde hair doesn't hurt either.

I read that the current reboot of Power Girl no longer got the boob window but to compensate, her costume get torn/ ripped apart as a running gag which some fans hated.

Looking forward to next week since I think I know which Supergirl you're going to mention next.
.
So she turned into Empowered...

Thats cool. I can live with Empowered. THat was pretty cool.

I respect it when characters are fleshed out and they're seen as people, not "ooohhh yeah I want me some of that" kind of models. Thanks for having this shown to us Movie Bob, I will check in next time to see what's going to happen. If I ever got into the DC comics business, I want to make a female character who was remembered for her talents and personality, not 'the boob windows are flashing'.
Batwoman would like to have a word with you.

I think it'd be great to see Power Girl in the forthcoming Justice League movie.

Think about it.......

I can't read modern comics that is published outside of Vertigo. It's basically just hyperbole and softcore porn. I just don't care for it any longer. I got actual, real porn online.
Hear that, authors? EVERYONE CAN LOOK UP PORN ANYTIME THEY WANT NOW! YOU CAN STOP DRAWING THAT SHIT!.
And if all you wanted was plot you could look up the Gutenberg website [www.gutenberg.org] and download over 40,000 free ebooks.

Off you go, and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

yeah...speaking of which I was in the comic shop today and I heard the head of Vertigo quit...and speculation the imprint might go under...

that said I've read plently of non-super hero comics (in fact its annoying I have to specify "non superhero" comics) like Saga and Locke and key

I honestly think the comicbook industry needs to get over its superhero thing (that'll happen when you have a female superhero wearing an unflattering outfit)

"Ridiculous proportions"... my ex girlfriend was built like her, she never looked ridiculous, or even Dolly Parton-esque. Let's be honest, everybody loves breasts, whether they're attached to us or to other people, we're all pretty much fans, so i don't get the issue. If they sell comic book let's call it harmless eye candy. If there are issues of objectification I can assure you that most women do it to themselves to a greater degree than men could possibly achieve via comic book artistry.
Power girl aside still no excuse for objectification in general (its more of a chicken/egg thing)

reading about all of this is definetly off putting...just another one of the many things that make comics seem off putting

^This. This EXACTLY. Powergirl, even when being serious, was fun. Now it's just sort of 'meh'.

Empowered is great, but "Empowered Girl" would be a bit odd in the mainstream DC universe. Even more so if they brought The Goddamn Maidman along with her. Poor Batman fans would never recover. I would totally read that though. It sounds like it could be the DC equivalent of Nextwave. Heh.

Dude, what is wrong with you?
I clearly stated that I enjoyed Vertigo. Vertigo is a comic. Comics have images, and not just "plot". However, Vertigo RARELY have the skimpy, softcore-porn outfits and images that I see in modern comics. That was my point. When I want good comics, I read Vertigo. When want porn, I look at porn. I don't see the point with doing the middleground.

Ugh. That would indeed be a dark day. Still, I doubt it will be the end of Vertigo-style comics. Hellblazer and Fables still have a good, stable readerbase, and Gaiman is writing the long-awaited prequel to Sandman.
That, if anything, will keep the brand alive.
