Look at the console fan boys, Harry Potter nuts, Halo loons and the like.
I like a good football game, but if you tell me who won the second super bowl, how much time was on the clocksm, winning pass thrown to X no name even for his time...your still a nerd even though your nerd speak is sports.

I go to Anime cons alot accually know Many a voice actor in my area of the world. And at Con's they are not any worse than the others who cross the line from having fun to mental illness. Now Fanfiction... I have no reguard or respect for EVER.
Someone else got the rights and permission to make a world, story or own sliver of universe and then next thing all these hack writers and kids make gay porn, or write themselves into a adventure....which as always is done in all areas, Anime, TMNT, Zelda, Bleach, One piece, KH, Starwars or Star Trek...
So really all I see is people don't like the people who take things to far....like alot of Halo fans i know, Madden, ect they get just as bad. But they hide behind a fake wall of acceptance because it more manly games or foolishness like that.

Half Life 2 and Fallout 3
HL2 I played for the first time just recently, hated the shit out of it. So damn linear and I just couldn't make myself give a shit about the story. All I kept thinking was "Wow, they think I'm Jesus Christ. But I use a crowbar...". I played it out of context of it's release time so I will give that it was probably unbelievable back when it came out but I still think it's a turd.
And F3... I loved Oblivion, racked up so many hours on it. Then I came to the escapist and heard the glory of F3. I went got it, played it for maybe 10-15 hours and realized that I wasn't having fun. I was merely playing because I had nothing else to do. I couldn't put my finger on it but I just didn't like it. Maybe I spent too much time on the main story, I don't know. There were some amusing things, the "Gary" vault was hilarious, but for the most part I would've rather popped Oblivion in again.

SPORE. It was the game that killed the whole hype thing for me. I just don't get that excited about games anymore because I don't want to be let down like that again.
That being said, the creature creator is still a lot of fun, and I still stick it on just for that every now and then.

I hate guns more than pretty much anything but I love the AK-47, not as a gun, but because it's one of the greatest machines ever designed. It's an engineering masterpiece. It can be made cheaply using simple tooling and cheap materials pretty much anywhere, it has a bare minimum of simple, durable parts, it's almost impossible to break the damn thing and needs the bare minimum of maintenance and anybody can use it effectively given 20 minutes of training.
