I might have had something to do with it. I mentioned when I was putting down my vote for them that they were just two ordinary humans. Sure, Lee has experience with guns and Marty has a DeLorean and a hoverboard, but...Imagine them going up against Apocalypse Prime. In my opinion, badassery comes down to three factors:
Tenacity (Courage)
The ability to stay focused on the task at hand, and stall for time to get helped out of trouble, even in the face of pain, exhaustion, fear, and sorrow.
Daring (More Courage)
Commitment to a cause strong enough that they are ready to endanger themselves if necessary, and the nerve to take the rationally, logically best course of action, even if it's scarily counter intuitive.
Skill (A cross between Wisdom and Power)
Since this is the Escapist BRAWL, (I'm imagining something like Smash Bros.) this has to be about getting around on foot, dodging attacks, and doing damage.
The team should have similar aesthetics so that they look cool together.
They should specialise in different abilities/equipment so that they can cover each others weaknesses.
Right, I think Link fits the Badass Bill, fights well, and can really get around on foot through burrowing, hook shot use, and explosive breaching.
But who on the list fits the Badass Bill, complements Link with a Dungeon Punk aesthetic, and has skills/equipment appropriate to the Brawl , but contrast those of Link?
What about Guts? Badass, check, dungeon punk, check, good at combat, check, good at getting around on foot, erm...

Well TV Tropes says he's an incredibly agile lightning bruiser, and he fights like a barbarian despite the plate armour, so check.
Do his equipment and methods contrast Link?
Well he doesn't have as many methods of flanking, but his armour is much more solid, he uses a very two handed sword (as opposed to Links' sword and board combo), and since his ranged weapons are part of his prosthetic arm, he uses them on the fly instead of having to stow his melee weapons first.
So on the final criterion: Check.

On the one hand I think my team rocks, and hate to see the thought go to waste, but on the other hand, I now have a greater understanding of the rules, and an opportunity to have fun making another team.
Oh Kaptin Captain Bludflagg and Khan are untaken...
The Orks have a post-apocalyptic look, and Khan is actually from a post-apocalyptic setting, so the aesthetics match.
What's more, Khan is a clever wielder of guns and grenades, while the Kaptin duel wields a pair of chain-axes, it's a time tested pair up of Brains and Brawn, Red Oni Blue Oni, Big and Small.
Also Adam Jensen and Motoko Kusanagi...
They're both near-future, cybernetically enhanced, assault/espionage operatives, but I reckon they could easily be equipped with contrasting equipment. Their electronic telepathy, paramilitary expertise, and general cleverness would let them do really good teamwork.
Also I hereby vote for the following teams:
(Trivun)---April Ryan + Gordon Freeman
(TrulyBritish)---Rayman and Kirby
Actually, that reminded me that I tought of Team Resistance yesterday then forgot about it, and you've made me remember now. That's what I'd rather go for, either that or Team Azadi (given April is fighting the Azadi Empire, and they're both fighting for freedom which is the meaning of the Persian word Azadi).Auron225 said:
