My aim for this thread is thus, we vote for our Escapist WarChief, much like our presidency in
years gone by but with added sting in the real world, you see I had a dream a dream where
these internet polls meant more than just a popularity contest in between cliques, a dream
(I'm dreaming alot about you guys aren't I?) where your imprint on the forums actually means
something to the community you greatly claim to love.

Purpose of this thread/game
To Establish our WarChief, as voted by you the Escapist.

Criteria
You must be an Escapist member to be elegable for participation and voting.
Mods are welcome, but Themis media members are not, sorry but girls like Susan, Lauren and
Jollene would get auto votes just for there likability and cute smiles which would bork the
voting system.
This is not a popularity contest, I wish I could discount a "friendly" vote, this is serious
business.

The Brief
To become The Escapist WarChief you must wrangle all your political knowledge to get all the
votes you can.
Create a party and manifesto, but the kicker is that you cannot lie, whatever is part of your
agenda you must try your hardest to make true; so if you promise to bake cookies for every
gamer, then you gotta bake cookies for every gamer
If you promise to redress the issues with a game, then you better get your thinking hat on and
send those Devs some letters.

Ongoing
Every month an approval rating (or opinion poll) for how your doing with being a WarChief will
be done as well!, dissecting how you delt with not only your party's goals but general
problems with the gaming world and how the Escapist feel.

SO whose with me?, would you like to see an Escapist WarChief?, bringing the battle of what
the Escapist feel is wrong with gaming in general?, I'll throw my hat into the ring and fight
for your rights.

We are the Escapist, we are a Nation, do not ignore us gaming World, WE CAN MAKE A
DIFFERENCE!.

I am the leader the Paladin Party. We are strong, strict believers in order and law. We believe that the best way to stop trolls is to uphold the rules of the Moderators, and we shall report those who refuse to obey them. We enforce the use of good grammar, spelling, and punctuation on the forums.

We believe that us Escapists must be polite, friendly, and must uphold the laws of the Moderators. We must be nice to others while enforcing the rules of the forums. New members will be welcomed with open arms, but will have to obey the rules if they want to stay.

By following these beliefs, we shall strengthen our community and protect our site from trolls and other such scum.


[HEADING=2]Furburt of the Escapist Unity Party[/HEADING]
I stand for the Unity party. Our goal is to foster tightened community relations between disparate cliques of the Escapist, should they be willing. New members and old members, for example. By doing this, we can prevent fractures that so often appear in forums like this. Means that could potentially be used would be joint reviews, community wide threads, encouragement of those on the various sub forums to interact with each other.

We support the ending of posting on troll threads, better and more widespread use of the report button and PMing mods, introductions for all new members when applicable, and an end to elitism.

Remember, tough on trolls, tough on the causes of trolls. We fully support the Escapist staff and Red Guard.

I totally didn't just come up with all this.

This is just the pre lim stages so candidates are to be voted in, I'd like to throw my hat into the ring to become Escapist War Chief, if you so wish then put your name down and you best have a manifesto.

I haven't got a manisfesto yet because since I created the thread I would have a head start, I have a basic idea but since having a real world implication was my idea then we must all start playing on the same level field. Otherwise I may be accused of total HAXX.

When I had this idea this morning I will give you this example;
If voted in as WarChief then I wanted to make sure gaming was better for us as a whole, either by asking a "Kuliani" sackboy in LBP or emailing Treyarch to stop the rampant camping in the next COD game.
Also Jetpacks, I'd ask for a subsidie in Jetpacks for all gamers, CHEAP JETPACKS FOR ALL!.

You get the jist, small wishes make for big ideas that can maybe change the landscape for us Escapist.

Interesting thread. Can I suggest that you make a post containing all current group's manifestos, and ask them to P.M. them - You don't want to have to trawl through every day looking for more 'parties' that have been posted when you weren't looking.

Excellent idea Steel Crab, since voting hasn't started yet we need these sort of "comon sense" ideas to pop up to to make it easy for the Escapist to vote on this.

I liked the concept with the presidential election where the Candidates were publically nominated, and could not nominate themsevles. It resulted in quick and easy creation of parties without immense (or unavoidable...) overflow.

The problem with that is there were some nasty arguements when people who were late to the party tried to get involved "because they weren't in the loop", there were some big bannings because of the fallout from the previous Presidential election. Danzors and Darth were banned as a direct result of it, I also got a nasty PM from someone because I voted for "Hey Joe" because they felt I was too new and shouldn't have a right to vote.

As for your other other comment, yes it is a rebranded version of the Presidential election. WarChief sounds better.

But with this version I'm aiming for real world consequences, like if you promise to clean up Xbox Live then you best get some youtube videos to teach the world online etiquete, like I said if you say "cookies for all" for an extra vote, then you best bake cookies for everyone.

I must say, I'm still not exactly sure how this works....

So, there's going to be an election on Friday, yes? And anyone can vote?

Voting starts tomorrow yes, at 12 GMT, I'll create a thread with a poll.

So it would be nice to have a manifesto and mission statement from all the candidates, keep it simple we've already got mission statements from 3 of the parties involved, I'll be making a bullet point style manifesto to keep mine streamlined. Rules of engagement state that yours can be however you like it Furburt.

But remember, if your manifesto and mission statements says your going to do something for the community or gaming in general, you have to actively do it.

As an example I've only got one of my bulletpoints taken care of, Cheap Jetpacks for us Escapists, so i'll have to email makers of JetPacks to see if I can get a discount for us, that sort of thing. But I'm aiming for at least 5 things do to if I was WarChief, do as many as you feel to get votes and you can actually do.
