The First TMNT: Out of the Shadows Trailer Delivers Schoolgirl April O'Neil

Music video director Dave Green takes over for Jonathan Liebesman this time around and the results look like they will certainly please fans of last year's remake.

Having only seen the first two original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies, I can't say much about last year's Michael Bay-produced remake other than that it definitely looked like a Michael Bay movies. All the key elements were there: Walls of CGI explosions up the whazoo, a scantily clad Megan Fox, a third thing...

Eviscerated by critics [http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/teenage_mutant_ninja_turtles_2013/] it though it may have been, Bay's TMNT was definitely the kind of popcorn flick that audiences seeking a 90-minute escape could appreciate, and more importantly, it made a literal boatload of money (nearly $500 million worldwide on a $125 million budget). As such, plans for a sequel were quickly greenlit, and the trailer for said sequel, titled Out of the Shadows, made its way online earlier today.

As to the plot, well...all I was able to glean was that Casey Jones shows up at some point, as does Tyler Perry as Neil DeGrasse Tyson (or something) and updated versions of Tokka and Rahzar [https://40.media.tumblr.com/5c89cb36cc414a321e9306f622e3fe99/tumblr_nc142rManF1r981g2o1_500.jpg] named Bebop and Rocksteady. The trailer does, however, make sure to feature Megan Fox's April O'Neil in what I assume is a schoolgirl disguise and you've stopped reading this haven't you?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows hits theaters on June 3, 2016 in 3D and IMAX 3D.

You know... I don't hate this. I never got around to seeing the first one because it looked too much like the Bayformers movies, but this one actually looks a lot more like the old TMNT cartoon. At least they're actually bringing in some of the sillier elements like Bebop and Rocksteady (and maybe Krang? D: Does the giant portal in the sky mean Krang?)

I'll admit, that mohawk joke was pretty funny.
As much as I disliked the first one, I will admit as well that Mikey's giggle and the joke cracked me up. You have to admit that Splinter was nightmare fuel incarnate.

I don't know if it's the music used in the trailer or how the trailer is edited together... but, I kinda want to see this movie...

Other than that, they must be really hiding the Kraang angle until after the movie hits theaters...

Am I a sucker for finding this trailer interesting?

It didn't look super bad like the first one and bringing in Casey Jones, Bebop and Rocksteady (which I liked to add they actually got those three right the first times unlike the turtles. I mean they actually kept Debop pink mohawk!) is a plus in my eyes. Oh yeahs Baster Stockman is in it too.

I guess it doesn't help that I view the first super to be not that bad (it still suck but it wasn't as bad as I expect it to be).

Was this a joke that I just don't understand? If not, then you should probably know that Bebop and Rocksteady not only outdate Tokka and Rahzar, but that the second duo were only created to avoid needing the legal clearance of using Bebop and Rocksteady in the original movies.

No god no. Tokka and Rahzar were awful substitutions in the second live action movie for Bebop and Rocksteady. Bebop and Rocksteady were in the cartoons in the late 80s and Tokka and Razhar didn't show up until the 7th season way later on.

Bebop and Rocksteady are true nostalgia for TMNT fans and super exciting to finally see on the big screen.

I appreciated the sewer lids coming out of the pizza fan, and as others mentioned Bebop and Rocksteady... but still not going to spend actual money to watch it... maybe when it hits netflix.

At least we have the new cartoon series.

Now THAT is some good TMNT going on there.

I really seriously hope this was meant to be a joke.

This looks like a big step up from the first movie, I doubt it'll be amazing but it looks entertaining at least.

Ima be honest i dunno if its because of the latest cartoon of TMNT but these movie versions seem bland to me in comparison.

It doesn't look nearly as bad as the first one. The action scenes seemed more stable, design cleaned up a little bit (or was at least less in the turtle's faces) and Bepop/Rockesteady actually look decent. Also, Casey Jones is always nice to see.
Now, none of that will save it if it has the same young/old disconnect as the last one.

Yeah I am going to go ahead and call this thing a piece of crap. It looks even more mindless and stupid than before. Plus all those blur effects and motions look awful, the lines and jokes are horrible (I mean can't they get ANYONE that can act?), they still are treating April like a sex object even though they keep insisting she isn't and all the CGI and characters are STILL ugly. And people are STILL trying to drag down GOTG to uplift this garbage when it is OBVIOUS unless you have no ears and holes for eyes. I mean seriously love this crap all you like but people please stop trying to drag down others that worked hard to get their movie on the big screen and to get their awards, high praise and accolades and not because teenage boys want to drool over Megan Fox. Sorry Micheal Bay and friends. All the profit and money in the world can't make you guys good film makers. The new CG television series is a hundred times better than both these movies combined and don't even cost as much

Except for the facts that you (obviously) have only seen two movies and that this is a trailer for TMNT: Out of the Shadows, nothing in this piece is correct. You should seriously be ashamed of yourself for submitting such amateurish tripe. That shit might fly in high school or on Buzzfeed, but the Escapist is a legit publication. Do research, get better, or get a day job.

That goes for Mr. Bay too.

I saw the first one with my friends. We all agreed that we wasted out time and spent the ride home joking about how awful the movie was. This one...looks like it might be one or two steps up, but that's it. Kind of rolled my eyes when April did the whole "tie my shirt so I look hot" thing, because of course Megan Fox is going to do that in a school girl outfit.

I don't know. I might go see it if there's nothing else to do and we all want a good laugh, but "excited" or "good" are not words I would choose to describe the trailer.

What did he get wrong in the article, besides thinking that Bebop and Rocksteady were Tokha and Rahzar updates? The movie grossed 493 million (close enough to say 500), and it did only have 125 million budget. Casey Jones is there, and the critics did indeed destroy the movie. It has a run time of 101 minutes, which is again, close enough to round up.

Or are you making some sort of joke that is going way over my head?
