It would be either a Goomba or one of those stupid ducks. I wanted to kill the dog but the game wouldn't register that I shot him...

I would have to say one of those stupid little annoying hopper things in Jak 1.
Either that, or something in Ty (the Tasmainian Tiger, hurray for Australia!)

EDIT: or from crash bandicoot: the wrath of cortex

Erm, maybe a paratrooper in "Paratrooper". Or a Gruzzle in "Apogee Maths Adventure". I dunno, my folks kept me away from video games as a kid. I do remember my first "modern gaming" kill. I shot my friend in the BF1942 Wake Island demo. I was so astounded by the realness of it all that I thought he was faking so kept unloading until the body faded away. I suppose that's when I popped my gaming-kill cherry so to speak at the ripe old age of 14.

A crab robot in Sonic the Hedgehog 1.

A humble beginning.

We went from first game to first game kill? Man that's a little silly, but I'll go with it!

A moto bug!
Haha, that's the one!
