I thought this was really interesting and wanted to share. For those that have seen TGK or are on the fence, The Writer Director describes his influence from the 1980s scifi fantasy films and techniques. He relied heavily on practical effects. Good watch if you're into film & set design. It's wonderful to see younger film makers still carrying the torch.
