@Asturiel: That is also a reason I don't like coming home. All of my actions are questioned, and everyone wonders why I don't work harder to do things better.
Well, if you had already taken the shift for your friend, then there isn't too much you can do about it if you were already working it. However, you do need to inform the parents about such things before hand.
Also, your friend should understand that you have already made other plans for that particular day. While a job is important, if people are not willing to understand that you do have a life behind work, then the job is hell and isn't worth worrying about.
Just my little take on what you gave me.

@Unusual: Ok you misinterpret, the trial job is the one where I will be wanted to work may24 and my Dads pissed cause thats the only job in the universe apparently.
Also am I crazy for thinking getting a summer job in DECEMBER is dumb?

However, I would think that there was either a communication failure between you and your families part.
If you have already paid for, and have plans on the 24, then I think wanting to keep those plans is good.
Getting a job in general I don't think is dumb. Money is money.

Just the idea of getting a job for summer while it's not even close to it sounds dumb to me. Like applying for a full time position and they want you to work but your in school because you were all like "but I just want this for summer!"

Well, it is a pretty dumb concept. And your scenario is a good one. It is one that often times is because there isn't really a "summer only" position. You take a job, and keep it until you quit, or get fired. There isn't a "Well, times up, lets let you go" thing. So, its kinda a unsaid and unwritten understanding or something....
