"Yes, I suppose we are. Although I hadn't the nose for it back then that I do now. Sort of stumbled upon Alexander and his ambition through my Greek... associates. He had such an enthusiasm for their culture I ended up coming back after his death." She leaned against the wall slightly, to allow Gerard a better view, not that he wasn't perfectly capable of simply looking over her head. "I stayed in Athens for the number of witty and intelligent voices developed by the place, and Sparta for the, ah... Elegant fighting spirit, shall we say. Although I have quite the memories from Corinth and Thebes as well. Such a thriving place back then."

Goodnight, bb on in morning. And yes, epic teleport.

Anna jumped when Gerard spoke. SHe hadn#t noticed him following them. Unlike Zala, Paddy and Seamus, she wasn't exactly fond of violence, nor was she adapt at dealing it out. She hung back, letting them take the lead, hoping that whatever, or whoever they found would be friendly. She'd learned well over the years that although she couldn't die, getting killed wasn't the most pleasent experience.

She smiled at Zala's recollectons. She wasn't old enough to know much about ancient civilisation, even at her age.

"I wish I had your experience," she commented. "I was never really one for fighting, and I've always hated war," she gripped her ring finger again, "but I feel a bit helpless now." She looked at the men in the group. "In this day and age it's not considered ladylike to be a damsel in distress, but I hope you'll not take it the wrong way if I ask you to rescue me, if it comes to that."

"No one that any of you could care to hear about." came the sarcastic reply from the darkness. Great... he thought, People.

He stepped out from the shadows and eyed the odd bunch, frowning at them and finishing to wipe the blood off of his face as he walked. If they were normal people, they'd simply go on their merry way once they saw the blood. If not... Well, Stephan would prefer not to think of what would occur if not. He wasn't exactly fond of people and had no reason to be any more fond to these people- especially since they were in the bottom levels of what appeared to be catacombs.

"What an unlikely group of archaologists..." he muttered under his breath, keeping one hand on the Mauser that was in his pocket.

Zala's group

Stephan has not adequately explored the other direction to give you a proper explanation of what was back there. You may decide to explore further, or turn back and see what has happened to the other groups, or another option, should you be creative enough to find one.

Shaun

The statue you gaze at almost seems to regard you in turn, though it is difficult to tell whether or not it is the influence of recent events or a trick of the light.

Giorgio and Fredrick

As you approach the center, it appears to be a corpse sealed in an old glass box. The body is long since mummified, and the drainage system around it seems to have kept it safe from the waters. There is a seal over the top of the glass box made in silver. It seems to glow as you get nearer, and you feel uncomfortably faint as you get closer to it.

Charles looked over at Stephan, a very bemused, almost comical look on his usually serious face

"And what exactly are you planning on using that on?"

He motioned his hand to Stephan's pocket and then turning to the group asked

"So, how much further are we going to explore down here? We don't appear to be getting any answers..."

Sorry about not posting yesterday, smashed my face a bit :p

Anna hid behind Gerard, blinking at the stranger in the semi darkness of the catacombs. Whoever he was, she really hoped he wasn't going to shoot them. Getting shot hurt.

"We should have asked the others for their phne numbers," she said. "Or brought walkie talkies. That would have made this a bit easier. At least then we'd know if the others had found anything."

Paddy stepped up to Stephen and holding up his torch, looked him over. With a sigh he turned to the others and said "He's no threat". Turning back to face Stephen he simply asked "What are you doing here?". As an afterthought he added "And don't lie".

"Oh, he's no threat you say?" Gerard said sarcastically to Paddy. He then remained silent, and waited for a response from Stephan.

I was away for the weekend, and I'm now confused...

Can I get a summary, or somewhere to rejoin the story?

Thanks

Giorgio nodded slowly after Xandus, eyeing the box with curiousity. After a long moment, he took a step forward and said to Fredrick, "I don't suppose you would care to help me unseal Pandora's box?"

You could do what Rag did, and pull a super awesome plot-fixing teleport.
Fredrick grinned at the comparison, walking up to the casket and crouching down next to it. "It's usually better to have some idea of who the body belonged to before disturbing it." he said in a slightly distracted voice as he peered through the glass. "There's obviously something abnormal going on here, so opening the box may not be a good idea, as your rather ominous comparison suggests." As he said this last part he glanced back at Giorgio, smiling briefly. Then he turned back to the casket and began searching it over for any markings or clues as to who it contained.

"I am here because I am here. Wasn't really looking for anything in particular and then some gigantic shadow thing created a hole in the floor. Which I fell through. And got a wicked head wound." He points at the massive amount of blood matting his hair. "See?" He was basically trying to scare them into running away, as his skull still wasn't entirely knit back together from his fall. He did rather look like a zombie at the moment- but it might have been difficult to tell in the dim light.

Seamus shrugged. "Looks like yer one a us then. Seems like someone, or somethin' at least, is gatherin' us. Threw Sachiro back through the door when he tried to leave, trapped us down here wit' our curiosity." The burly Irishman shifted uncomfortably. "I dinnae like this feelin' a bein' used."

Turning back to Zala and ignoring the newcomer, Seamus nodded. "Aye, pre-gunpowder must've been a trip. I often feel like I was born a lil late in the game. Nothin' beats the level of skill requisite in wielding a sword or spear."

Whelp, after the shadow disappeared on a billboard, which revealed an oddly interesting picture of a nun, you returned to the church to plot your next move. Sachiro tried to leave, but was thrown back into the building, which seems to have caused the floor to collapse under you, dropping you into the half-flooded catacombs below. I strongly suggest back pedaling a bit and reading the salient posts that have happened since, but you CAN say that your body suffered extensive injuries in the fall, and simply took this long to heal.

Zala grinned at the newcomer. "Welcome to the now unprecedented number of immortals running about these catacombs, then. If I may make some impromptu introductions, this is Seamus, Paddy, Anna, Gerard, and I am Zala. You are?" She was perhaps tossing him into the waters of their confusing situation rather quickly, but she could expect a bit more quick-thinking from one of their kind, one would hope.

"I am none of your concern." he replied, annoyed at the girl. "And I think I'll be on my way then- I've got business to do that doesn't involve talking about the level of skill it takes to weild a sword or spear or swapping stories.

Stephan was a bit peeved at the fact that he hadn't scared these people away and that they were also, apparently, Immortals. He knew other ones existed, but he refused to think that anyone like these stupid people would ever be selected to exist when others had died. He began to walk away, before stopping dead in his tracks, realizing he had no idea where the hell he was.

Sighing, he returned to the group, shaking his head. "I am called Stephan by most, girl. And it appears I am stuck following you... peons around until I can find an exit." He jammed his hands into his pockets and fiddled with the useless (in this situation, at least) Mauser in his pocket, curising his ill luck.

"Aren't you a suspicious one? Fingering that gun in your pocket and all? And girl? She is millenniums older than any of us." Gerard said with a sarcastic smile. He rose and walked up to Stephan.

"There are bigger things than you going on in this world, and it's time you found out."

Despite all this time he was still a person of authority.

Zala eyed him more critically as he reacted, trying to find the flavor of the immediate dislike of them. He certainly had contempt for her and her apparent youth, which was common enough if no less annoying. "Intriguing to meet you, Stephan. And to be fair, Gerard, he is probably still quite young." It was too dark in the tunnels to get a good look at his eyes, that most telling feature on the human face. She readdressed the stranger. "But, if you wish to call me 'girl' make sure you do so knowing you're being insulting. Unintentional surliness is especially vulgar." She gave a slightly deferential bow to soften the tartness of her request. "Until we find you your exit, at least, in which case you may return to conversing with those less experienced than you and be rude over their little heads all you like, it is no concern of ours."

She laid no restraining hand on Gerard's shoulder as she had Paddy's, now that they knew they were dealing with another immortal. No permanent damage could be done to another immortal. Well, besides a bit of mental. And a less polite and a mature part of her thought Stephan could use being knocked down a peg too.

Anna glowered at the new man, Stephan. It wasn't often she found a person she felt such an immediate dislke to, as she usually tried to be positive about everything, as challenging as it could be. Still, this new guy had no respect for someone who was obviously on a whole other level than him, making him either incrediably niave or incrediably stupid.

Her respect for Gerard and Zala had gone up exponentially. She always admired someone who could hold their own in a civilised manner, an art she had not come close to mastering.

They hadn't moved for a while, and she could feel the moisture creeping up the material of her trainers.

"Well, seeing as we're not any closer to actually finding anything, except maybe a headache, shall we keep going?"

The Group with the Box

The mummy turns towards you, and paws at the glass helplessly. The eyes are true dry for you to garner an emotional response from them, but it seems to want to get out.

Upon better inspecting the box's silver seal, you realize that it is indeed glowing, a faintly blue glow is emanating from it. The closer you get, the more you begin to feel faint and unable to control your consciousness. The shape is similar to a cross, but something is not quite right. It curves around at the top to the right and curves left at the bottom. There are several holes of varying size in the shape, and there are a series of moons, planets and stars of varying shaped and sizes organized along the seal. The box does not have an obvious opening, even after you remove the seal, and you cannot see if the seal is even truly connected to the box. It looks almost as though someone just set it there.

I will post something for the rest of you once you take a more proactive step in one direction or another.
