The iPad Can Do Real Street Magic, Too!

This video might have just re-kindled my childhood love of magic. they should make this into an ad campaign.

And would people stop saying "you can see the cut" or "there was probably a guy behind him" you party poopers!

Holy crap you guys, this shit isn't even performance art. I could take this as a well times piece of performance art right up to the man switch. Then it proved itself to be a staged video. In a open street, the switch would have been unmistakable, unless you were alone and the iPad magic show was given to you alone. Then he could have pressed the iPad to your face close enough to distract you. Looks to me like Apple just hired this guy to do a viral. And a pretty sad one at that.

Am I the only one who didn't think this was that impressive? I've seen much better street shows (though I like to attend busker festivals).

I'll second this. It wasn't that he was bad at the tricks, in fact he was quite good at them. However, magic performances are about more than just sleight of hand. Almost every trick he used was based on the fact that you can't see behind the iPad, and they ultimately seemed very unoriginal. The video itself was not a waste of two minutes, in fact I kind of enjoyed it, but is not something I would share.

Ok, well I'll help you get some sleep, the main guy in the video did not hold up the iPad, it was the guy he turned into. You'll notice he makes a point to get the iPad offscreen before he does the trick.

Why? They just paused and unpaused the camera, you can see the cut.

Yeah, it's a good cut, but you can see the hands change.

I wonder why they cut it, wouldn't changing the iPad on the fly be possible (though hard)?

That was nothing more than simple (for a professional performer) sleight of hand while holding an iPad. He also did the X-rays and brain scans out of time with the iPad, and missed with the milk (which was covered with something transparent).
