The Last of Us: Remastered Due on PS4 July 29


Fans will get a chance to relive the celebrated title later this summer, in glorious HD.

Sony will release a remastered version of PS3 hit The Last of Us for the PS4 on July 29. The title, which was <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/133285-The-Last-of-Us-Coming-to-PS4-in-Summer-Update>confirmed in development earlier this year, will also include the Left Behind single-player campaign as well as the map packs Abandoned Territories and Reclaimed Territories.

A "Game of the Year" edition with the DLC included, I could understand, that happens all the time. But branding it a "remastered" version implies a lot of time has passed and something needs fixing/updating, and it's only been a year... this smells like a blatant cash-grab, which is doubly-stupid when they still haven't tried porting the thing to PC yet!

No thanks, one time is enough. For me, I don't think that a second play through is worth anything. There isn't any exploration in the game really. It's a good story that is part of a decent very linear experience. But it become formulaic really fast. You get a section to explore, then combat section, then a survival section, then repeat. Usually the survival sections are about running from human opponents. Good game once through, but a "remastered" version hardly feels like a good investment.

I have the PS3 version but I'm actually going to rebuy this one, I need a reason to buy a PS4. Going to have to wait to see if they bundle it before I do buy it.

That trailer was nice... till I saw flashes of the Left Behind DLC. If only I could rid my memory of that one...

Anyway, looks very nice despite Youtube obviously not being able to show it at 1080p and 60fps. Glad I finally know when I can pick this up.

Never did play Last of Us, though I did catch a lets play of it...I suppose I might well pick this up as I believe my amount of free time is going to increase soon.

Unless "Remastered" refers to changing that horrible ending and making Joel jump into a fire, I'll pass. On playthrough was quite enough, I think (though it was very pretty and well-acted, and the mechanics were excellent).

Wait, what's so wrong with the Left Behind DLC? From what I remember of it, it was a nice bit of story that helped explain both what happened between fall/winter, and Ellie's back story.

Wait, what's so wrong with the Left Behind DLC? From what I remember of it, it was a nice bit of story that helped explain both what happened between fall/winter, and Ellie's back story.

It was so pointless it hurt. Everything it shows was better off left to the imagination.

Ellie's backstory has forced romance for no reason other than making us feel something for their relationship. Something which worked way better in the main game by the way which Ellie spoke of Riley. Which was not in a romantic way, but in one of friendship. And the in between Fall/Winter bit was just so they could shove some mindless action in there. Which doesn't make any sense since it's heavily implied in the main game that David and James are the first people Ellie has come across since the University. Otherwise I'm sure David would've mentioned the 30 or so men Ellie murdered in that mall.

So yeah, I aggressively choose to ignore all that nonsense.
