The Mega Beef Bowl('s stat boosts)

I've been following the Gamefaqs max social link guide to get all the social links done in a single playthrough in Persona 4: Golden. The thing is that I'm unable to get the strong rank in the dilligence stat in time to access the janitor job (which, as you probably know, is required to do one of the social links). I know that the Aiya Mega Beef Bowl challenge ups 3 stats at random (one of the possibilities being dilligence), and, I have to ask, can I get two dillingence ups in the same beef bowl attempt?, or did I screw things over somehow?, (it might have happened before, but I forgot if it did).

The 3 stat boosts are random, but if you save before-hand, you keep trying until you get the ones that you want. Its also ok if you just continue on and start the Social link a little later, since in Golden, those months that were unplayable during the original game are now playable and you actually have extra time to finish up then. That's what I did, anyway (minus finishing the Fox SL... stupid fishing mechanics). There's still NG+, as you'll probably be maxed out at that point and you can finally pick all those answers MC didn't have the balls to say during the first play through.

I'll tell you right now you cannot get all the social links done on your first play through, there is not enough time to do them all. I'd say max your stats asap then focus on the social links you want to do then try and get all the social links on NG+

Is that true?

Hooooooly shit. I might get P4G now. Oof.

Edit:

Wow, I didn't do my homework. I thought P4G was just a straight up port. Eep

Nah, not a straight up port. They added extra movies, extra Social Links (one of which can be changed due to story choices not spoiling which), an extra character, events, dungeons, places on the map to go, fetish outfits that change their end battle animations, special pair-attacks like Chie-Yukiko and Yosuke-Teddie if they're in the party together, and third-tier evolutions for the rest of the teams' Personas among other things and a little something as a nod to the events of P4Arena. Definitely worth getting.

It's still one of my goals to actually eat Chie and Yukiko's food of horror from the camping trip when I get around to playing the game again. I must know.

Well hot damn, I guess I need to get it now. Although I'm not keen on Arena, since I am t3h suck at fighting games, Persona 4 was awesome, and more of the same is just what the doctor ordered.

Also, fetish outfits? On 15 year olds? Awesome What?

Not pervy stuff, stuff like the outfits you could get in P3 FES, they're just called fetish outfits. Some are for specific characters, like Teddie's Prince outfit and Yu's Dojima outfit, and some come in sets like the Secret Agent set, Gekkoukan Highschool set or Feather Rangers set. They move and/or say things differently when wearing these outfits and its a nice little touch that shows they're aware of what they're wearing. e.g Yu has a cigarette in his mouth and wears the jacket of Dojima's suit over his shoulder like his uncle does and Yukiko and the others will say cheesy Feather Man X lines when wearing the hero uniforms. Since they are just something you can wear and don't count as armor, they're way less expensive than the 6-figure yen outfits in P3- still cost a bit, though.

I see. Well that's nice and won't get me arrested :). I never explored the extra outfits and stuff in P3 FES. The ending depressed me enough that I didn't bother with any NG+. Good depression. But gee, that game was sad.

Anyway, thank you for the information. I appreciate it. The game is like $35 here, so I'ma go pick it up after I finish my midterm stuff this week. Slightly excited now.

My original question still stands, can I get two boosts in one stat in the challenge? (for example, dilligence, courage, and more dilligence)

I never remember getting that, it always seemed to be 3 different stats, I'm pretty sure that is the case, not 100% though, hope it helps.

That's why I said to reload. Even the one-shot walkthroughs I've followed put emphasis on saving before each Aiya visit just in case you don't get a diligence boost at all. I haven't played in a bit, but I'm pretty sure the boosts go to 3 different stats, like Darwhite said. You can get 5 points towards diligence if you eat the regular ramen instead of the 3 points with the Special at Aiya's since the regular only boosts one stat instead of 3. Don't forget to go to Soccer/Basketball club and make envelopes at your desk at home (if you haven't already done so) if you still need to get to Diligence lv 3 for the Janitor job. What date are you on?

I don't remember exactly right now, but I know I'm in early-early mid June (and the guide I'm using says to accept the hospital janitor job on the 16th).

Seems like you might've missed some points somewhere. Since that job can be accepted from May 25, waiting until June 16 is supposed to give you a little wiggle room to get your Diligence up. I use multiple save files for Persona games because there's always the chance you'll miss something (I have started over all the way in July once I realized I missed some stuff and I only had the one save file, so it can be frustrating). No shame in starting a little later than the guide says because you still get a little more actual play time than the original. I suppose it is possible to finish in one play through, but its really hard, even with the one-shot guides. I'd suggest focussing on eating the regular ramen, working on envelopes and reading diligence enhancing books more than other things if you want to get it on time (I'd be trying to get my Expression and Understanding up since Dojima and Nanako's S.Links can be incomplete if not finished in a timely matter before certain events in the story, while Sayako's can be finished another time without really affecting anything besides which Personas you can get). You need at least 40 points in Diligence for the job. Hope this helps.

EDIT: I usually have 2-3 of these GameFAQs guides open at a time since there are variances between them and some are more helpful or descriptive than others in certain aspects while lacking in others. That's why I say its hard. I'm trying to do it properly on NG+ right now since I only finished the Fox SL up to Rank 8 during my first run (technically second since I started over in July like I stated above), but at least I'm maxed out so I can practice fishing more.

... assuming you have a Vita, right? I don't see a non-Vita version of Golden (just checked Amazon).

Which kinda sucks, cause I'd enjoy playing an upgrade. P3P was amazing.

Its admittedly the only reason I even bought a Vita. It's 2012, I had just gotten a PS3 and was enjoying the hell out of it, when I hear that they're doing a portable remake of P4 like what they did with P3 FES. I got a used Vita in February and didn't touch it until the my pre-order came in late after a delayed release to November. Total system seller, for me. Now when other things get released for it, I'm already set.

Well, there's Muramasa Rebirth & Soul Sacrifice out right now. Not to mention Ys: Memories of Celceta is currently slated for a November release.

I'm saving up for Atelier Totori and The Puppeteer at the moment, kinda lacking in disposable income while I'm trying to get hired.

Ick Golden. Shit version for tryhards and nerds, real men play the original PS2 version*. As much as I love Persona 4, I am not paying for a whole system + game for a remake of a game I already own. Oh and christ I would have reset all my character stats! No! Fuck that! Don't reset all my Swag Points down to zero for the love of god!

I didn't notice the Beef Bowl was even a thing until halfway through my second playthrough and by then I was max stats except 1 away from full Understanding... I always winged my Social Links and just speed run the characters I like and hope I get them done before the end of the game. I wouldn't find it fun agonising over 100% completion even in a NG+

[sub][sub]*This is a joke, this is me being over-dramatic, if I don't point it out I know some guy without a sense of humour with take it 100% seriously[/sub][/sub]
