Im desperately trying to understand why Microsoft would want to keep him on, but I just can't figure it out.

If Microsoft wants to repair Activision's reputation, Bobby has to go. There is just no alternative.

To me this reads like Bobby is only staying on as CEO, for as long as Activision/Blizzard is staying autonomous - which is expected to last until June 2023.

After that, who knows.
