So, we've already had an article in the last few days about the worst guns ever, how about one on the best guns ever?

They can be whatever. Weather they be a work of fiction or straight off a military base, give us your best! They can be as ludicrious or reasonable as you want, just as long as it shoots a bullet/bullet-esqe device(i.e plasma or lasers or whatever)

My choice would have to go to the Gunsword, in all of its retarded glory.

Also, apologies if this has been posted in a thread before, but it's always good to see revised versions of threads with new opinions.

That is to say, for those unaware of the wh40k Ork fluff..

A gun, that shoots an Ork underling, wearing a suicide vest, trough the local version of Hell, to materialize within the enemy's armor and blow the suicide charge.

The gun-sword sucks. The handle makes it the most unwieldy sword imaginable and the blade makes it impossible to use as a gun with such a long barrel. Impracticality may usually make for an amazingly awesome weapon, but in the gunblade's case it serves only to cut the weilder's hands off.

OT: Lightsaber with out a doubt, a sword that is a laser that can cut anything but other lasers? EPIC!

errr. . . .ummm, aahh. . . .NU-UH!!!. . . yeah, that's all I can muster.

The gunsword is entirely for the spectacle of the thing, I know, but what a spectacle it would be, watching a man break his own wrist from swinging,shooting and just holding it up, all at the same time.
The lightsabre isn't a gun though.

A mini-gun that shoots incredibly small pellets that triple in speed and size every meter they travel, thus making it able to use very large clips of very small bullets. Oh yes, and the bullets have to explode, in a fiery purple blast, that becomes ten times the size every time the bullet doubles in size, and starts out being 2 meters across BEFORE the very small bullet has done any expanding.

I'm thinking that there could be technical issues using this weapon- A fiery death for myself and whatever quarter of the world I was on would be inevitable. After 2m, the blast would be 80m across... That would be my entire property, house, garden, pool, front garden, parking lot...

What would happen if I stood on top of a mountain and fired *somewhere* down and far away???

A fully auto weapon that fires .75 RPG rounds at it's target and makes them explode into showers of gore. If that doesn't work there's always the 1.00 caliber heavy model that'll do even more damage to your targets.
