Fellow escapists im finally reaching the end of high school and am thinking about collage. this left me thinking about a gap year. Ive decided to take a gap year with a friend or two and my girlfriend to see the most beautiful places in the world. I realsied recently that most people live their lives day by day and have no idea about the amazing and awe inspiring places in our world that they will never see. I for one dont wish to die without enjoying them.

Then i had another realisation... I had no idea where to begin.
My list fell short at "northern lights", "South pole", "Grand canyon" and "a rainforest".

So it raises the question. Whats the most amazing place or thing youve seen with your own eyes? If you havn't traveled much then if you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

There's this one river, which starts at a waterfall, in North Wales, to which I have been. In sunlight, it was spectacular.

I really want to go to Scotland.

I think the place is called Boscastle (a small tourist town on the western edge of the UK)
Damn, that place was just beautiful. All that blue sea and waves...

Tikal. Even though I had a throat infection throughout the entire trip, it was still nice.

My front yard. Seriously, we live on the edge of this pine forest, and there are little squirrels and multicolored birds everywhere, and deer prance through our front yard while we're pulling weeds. Its awesome.

Other than that, i'd have to say the lodge on Mt. Rainer, what a view.

I can't remember exactly where as I was just passing by, but Scotland has some stunning views. Those mountains being reflected in perfect clarity against the crystal clear lakes... Just beautiful. Too bad England is mostly farmland. I love Scotland.

It also might have something to do with my love of castles...

1) I think that was near Snowdonia.

2)You really should go if you ever get the chance.

Well, there's always the Aurora Borealis.

But honestly, the most gorgeous sight I've seen has to be North-Western Sweden; was taking a trip to Umeå and we had to drive over a mountain. It was clouding, chill and about to snow, and the sun threw brilliant light across the river and the lakes - it was a sight of awe. Sort of like a hybrid between winter and spring, except it was the dead of Autumn.

A bunch of Fjords in Norway. I'm not exactly sure where we were, but it was breathtaking. Felt like I stepped into a Fantasy film, right up until I remembered we were driving a car.

Walking down the road next to my house at 5:00 in the morning. It's amazing how much a familiar place can be changed by the absence of people. It was misty and completely quiet.
I take walks like that and i know what you mean. Theres something really eerie and facinating about the urban wasteland feel.

i'm still quite young and ive got a few plans that will hopefully change my opinion, but i recently stayed at the italian lakes just at the foot of the alps, and i was blown away by the view, and the roads there are awesome, you may have heard of the "stelvio pass".

I'd recommend going to a place like Oban. It overlooks Ardmucknish Bay, and it's quite easy to get to other places from there, such as Fort William, Which is quite close to Ben Nevis.
