really? that sucks. the writer of the anime died yesterday and now him?
I suspect blood money is involved!

OT: On a much more serious and less one way ticket to hell statement. My condolences to the his family. He will live on in my heart and others for the great things he brought to many peoples childhood.

So what's the deal with this whole joke? I searched it up, and it seems to have circulated for a few days. Also showed up on his spot in IGN's top 100 video game designers list(saying he's not, btw). Thing is, I don't get the joke. It's not funny to kid about death. So just in case anyone's actually being confused here, he's NOT dead. Now stop joking about it.

'Just' the anime's director/writer died, NOT the series creator.

OP, give a little more effort in searching for the legitimacy of your statements before you make them in the future, because they could just be poor assumptions just like this one.

Meaning Satoshi Tajiri is still alive and well, as far as we know, right?

Anyways, RIP anime writer/director, may people remember you fondly(and correctly=S).

Both Tajiri and Sugimori are alive and doing well. Takeshi Shudo, writer on the original and earlier series, had a cerebral hemorrhage in a subway station in their smoking area, thus leading a lot of assumptions either first or second hand smoke was what might have got him.

He worked on other series, but on here Pokemon would be the most 'known' thing he worked on.
