Half-Life was simple, polished and amazing and Valve has totally screwed the formula up with HL2.

Portal was simple, polished and amazing and the history repeats itself.

Also this game is going to be too difficult. No, they can't balance 10 new features, keep things interesting for much longer and at the same time not make it difficult while targeting a release date sooner than in 10 years.

Also, if they at least bother with some story, a game like this is asking for episodic content. Valve has their priorities mixed up.
Damn, someone's jaded. While I don't agree with your first "point", I won't argue in opinion.

However, I will argue that saying Valve's talented design team, that has time and time again proven naysayers wrong with each new, brilliant release, can't find a way to work a narrative and all of the complex new features into the game while keeping it fresh and entertaining is a bit off base. I'm not going to sit here and say that it's a guaranteed hit in the works, but to say outright they'll fuck it up already is a bit cynical. It's like saying Bioware won't release a quality game that RPG fans will gobble up or that Blizzard won't spend an inordinate amount of money trying to perfect the gameplay of any given release. It can happen, but it's never THAT bad or very likely.

Also, not sure where the whole "episodic" idea is coming from. They said they're already aiming for a 20 hour story mode. And that doesn't include the co-op campaign. Besides, the game's been in development for about 3 years already. They started work the very moment the first game released to such high praise.

and now I wish for 2011 to come even faster so I can get my hands on Portal 2 and run a muck.

I hate him

I'm glad valve revealed that its only a placeholder Voice acting so they had something in time for E3
Thank fuck for that, Wheatley's voice acting was driving me up the wall with its shittyness. It's the only thing in these videos that isn't amazing.

I think that you're correct on that. I mean, fans of the original are still talking about the Companion Cube which never spoke and the cake which was referred to throughout the first game and only had a brief appearance during the credits.

What if Cave is Wheatley? Yeah, I doubt it too. Although, I really hope you get to meet him as a personality core. The hidden pictures of that insanely complex code thing (the hidden sounds in portal 1) showed two big robots hand in hand, GlaDos and Cave maybe?

Gah! Why is this not out now! Wheatly has just become one of my favorite Valve characters. Way to go. Any chance thy can get Dylan Moran to play an Asshole Personality Core? 'Cause that's the only way I can think of them making Portal 2 any better.

Every part of what I saw made me say "holy crap this is nothing like the game I played" and I thought the first game looked challenging.

Hell yes.

Hell yes!

Guys, I think they might just pull this off.

...

Also, do we really have to kill the turrets? They're so polite! I feel a bit guilty just knocking them over, let alone incinerating them.

I lost my shit when then the huge chunks of wall tiles got ripped off showing a secret back area and then were quickly replaced, it seems that not only are they allowing for hidden areas by jumping places where you weren't supposed to go but by using all the physics tool to manipulate the environments in a verity of ways. Do want!

This game will be so great... and so mind bogglingly insane. I will, no doubt, have to use guides on several missions. XD

Make no bones about it, this is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I look forward to having even more ways to completely flip off Isaac Newton.
However, including both the blue bouncy paint and the aerial faith plates seems a bit redundant.

But given how well the first game was received, Valve might have worked themselves into a corner for this one; fans might get upset that it's just 'amazingly good' and not 'a divine gem bestowed upon mankind by the hand of God'.
