Regardless, the second and third movies, while they lacked the glorious subway showdown, had overall better fight scenes, even with the hilarious physics in the Burly Brawl. This was likely due to more confidence in CGI but even then, there wasn't a shitload of CGI outside the obvious parts like the end of the Highway battle and the final showdown. (aside from truly dangerous parts, the highway battle was actually on a giant fucking highway set.
Sure, they were more complicated with more stuff flying around, but they certainly weren't better. They lacked the punchiness of the ones in the original, going on for way too long and having zero tension.

The only redeemable part about the Matrix sequels was the highway sequence, and even that is littered with rubbery CGI Agents and with the main characters being all stone-faced throughout the entirety of the action.

The Prequels never deserved to be flogged. JarJar did, but that's beside the point.

Yes, there's talking. So what? God forbid that a series called "Star Wars" is actually about a war between stars and such. God forbid we learn something about foreign societies and see planets other then "Ice world", "Desert world" and "Swamp World". Why would we actually want any of this interesting stuff, when we can have the heroes journey for the umpteenth time and have Errol fucking Flynn swing from space-ship to space-ship with his space-saber on a space-rope, and have him defeat the evil space-wizard with good-colored space-magic.

I will forever adore the original Trilogy for what it started. But... New Hope and Return of the Jedi where not very good movies and they were considerably more stupid then the prequels.
