What was the point in revealing that Norton was Ellie's new lover?
Why did the Red marker New Horizon immediately start a convergence pulse?
If the markers are now completely evil, why did the one on Aegis VII contain the Hive mind?
Why are you free to put on any other RIG after the Arctic Suit portion and go out into the storm with no repercussion?
Why does the RIG protect you from absolute zero in space, but on a planet that can support human life without a thermal suit, your body heat drains?
Why doesn't Isaac go into shock after his body temperature fluctuates over 20 degrees?
Why is a massive cult one of the most popular religions in the future?
Why are there Necromorphs on New Horizon? In the previous games, the markers didn't cause the virus, scientist bio-engineered it from the markings on the Marker.
Is that one special?
Why do dogs morph into exactly the same Necromorph as babies?
How do Necromorphs organize themselves when they are moving through vents twenty at a time?
Why do military weapons do so much damage in this game, despite Dead Space 1 logs making it clear that conventional weapons do very little.
Why are the Necromorphs in this game green? I thought Marker affected DNA didn't deteriorate.
What was the point of adding an alien species?
Why aren't the Black Necromorphs a different color?
When did Isaac become a weapons engineer?
What purpose does a bolas or chain lightning serve in mining?
Why didn't a convergence event happen at the Black marker on Earth?
If being exposed to markers cause Necromorphs, why didn't an outbreak happen on Earth?
Why did the SCAF soldiers have integrated RIG's when the description for the Engineering suit says that it was the first application for said technology. Those soldiers are from 200 years ago.
Why would the Blood Moon being completed cause Covergence across the galaxy?
Why are there so many markers on Tau Volantis?
Why was Norton promised a ship?
Didn't he already have a ship?
Did he know it was going to be destroyed?
Did he know they were going to fly into a minefield and crash onto Tau Volantis?
Is he an expert in things that have never happened?
Why do the Aliens only turn into one kind of Necromorph?
Why does scanning an alien cause Isaac to have a Prothean vision?
Why did the bloodmoon immediately get covered in rock? Wouldn't it just look like a frozen giant monster hive mind?
After Convergence, what happens?
Do the Necromorphs have a dance party?
Why do all the other man made Markers work? In Dead Space 2 we find out that they don't cause convergence unless they absorb the minds that made them.
Who made the other markers?
Why doesn't Janik just kill Isaac after the second time he escapes?
Does he think that the third time would be the charm?
Is he some kind of moron?
How do Janik's top men, in an army that has toppled government, get taken out by one engineer with a total of one day of combat experience against zombies?
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy???

The list raises a good point though, there are so many "hang on a second..." moments in DS3 that I couldn't keep up with them as I was playing it.

It's a good game but the story, characters and dialogue really needed some more work.

brother moons are awake, Black marker hasn't been eff'd with, Danic(?) set off the marker on New Horizon, and the marker infects dead corpses, you obviously didn't pay attention to any of the 3 games. I beat all 3 of them in a week.

By the way, if you paid attention. Your suits helmet malfunctions until you make it to that suit kiosk..

... I'll go back the way I came and question my existence now.
No, seriously. I really never noticed these, I just love the setting of dead space but I don't apply logic to it. However, concerning all the monolith questions, I think that all of those will be revealed eventually.

What was the point in revealing that Norton was Ellie's new lover? To create a stupid love triangle. Maybe they wanted a reason for Norton to betray Isaac.
Why did the Red marker New Horizon immediately start a convergence pulse? Wasn't a convergence pulse, it just got activated, happens in that one comic too.
If the markers are now completely evil, why did the one on Aegis VII contain the Hive mind? Maybe the 'pedestal' was an off-button? Actually, I'm not sure. Good question.
Why are you free to put on any other RIG after the Arctic Suit portion and go out into the storm with no repercussion? Gameplay, people might want to play using the EVA-suit without the game bitching at them. I would have liked it as being an extra 'danger' in the gameplay, but I can see why it wouldn't work.
Why does the RIG protect you from absolute zero in space, but on a planet that can support human life without a thermal suit, your body heat drains? Because in space there is nothing to conduct heat, besides, his helmet was broken on the planet.
Why doesn't Isaac go into shock after his body temperature fluctuates over 20 degrees? Gameplay, I found this to be weird as well, but maybe they did it so dumb people would get it.
Why is a massive cult one of the most popular religions in the future? Because the Markers are now everywhere and they manipulate people. Besides, there are some big religions of which not many people know what it means, yet they still follow.
Why are there Necromorphs on New Horizon? In the previous games, the markers didn't cause the virus, scientist bio-engineered it from the markings on the Marker. Yeah it's kinda stupid. The Aftermath movie shows that the Marker influences 'any' dead flesh, but I have always hated this retcon.
Is that one special? Don't think so, there are loads of 'em.
Why do dogs morph into exactly the same Necromorph as babies? Because babies are silly on military starships and there just had to be a lurker.
How do Necromorphs organize themselves when they are moving through vents twenty at a time? Who knows?
Why do military weapons do so much damage in this game, despite Dead Space 1 logs making it clear that conventional weapons do very little. Because people want to play with the pew-pew assault rifles. It's just the dumbing down.
Why are the Necromorphs in this game green? I thought Marker affected DNA didn't deteriorate. Because it looks cool. Besides, they were mummificated corpses, so maybe they were green before that.
What was the point of adding an alien species? To make a point in the plot. The Moons have been reaping species like those aliens for who knows how long. That's why there are no living aliens in Dead Space, that's why the Space, is Dead.
Why aren't the Black Necromorphs a different color? Gameplay I guess? They're easy to recognize.
When did Isaac become a weapons engineer? When did Isaac gain a voice?
What purpose does a bolas or chain lightning serve in mining? TO MULTIPLY THE BADASS.
Why didn't a convergence event happen at the Black marker on Earth? I dunno, but I should probably read the novel. Maybe there weren't enough bodies? The event in DS 2 triggers after a significant amount of bodies is present, and only then.
If being exposed to markers cause Necromorphs, why didn't an outbreak happen on Earth? Maybe something did happen? I could have missed that, but I think the distance was a little too far.
Why did the SCAF soldiers have integrated RIG's when the description for the Engineering suit says that it was the first application for said technology. Those soldiers are from 200 years ago. Because retcons, that's a good one.
Why would the Blood Moon being completed cause Covergence across the galaxy? Because the story needed to get bigger and have more at stake than just that stupid ice planet. Yeah, it's ridiculous in its aspirations, but it didn't annoy me that much.
Why are there so many markers on Tau Volantis? Because the aliens liked the shape. They made a lot of them. Ask the aliens.
Why was Norton promised a ship? To convince him to betray Isaac of course. Why wouldn't Danik offer him a ship? He was going to kill Norton anyways. Nothing to lose.
Didn't he already have a ship? Which got destroyed. And the shuttle got destroyed. And Isaac tried to get his girlfriend back.
Did he know it was going to be destroyed? That 'what' was going to be destroyed? Norton was pretty gullible.
Did he know they were going to fly into a minefield and crash onto Tau Volantis? Of course not. He didn't even want to be in the vicinity of the damn planet.
Is he an expert in things that have never happened? What?
Why do the Aliens only turn into one kind of Necromorph? Because the design team needs to cool off at some point. Besides, there are those baby things?
Why does scanning an alien cause Isaac to have a Prothean vision? Because. Why does a miniature device slow down only certain parts of machines and bodies?
Why did the bloodmoon immediately get covered in rock? Wouldn't it just look like a frozen giant monster hive mind? It's seen absorbing rock and dust as well, maybe it's just trying to stay undercover until convergence resumes.
After Convergence, what happens? The Moons converge on the Markers. It's stated pretty much obviously in the plot,
Do the Necromorphs have a dance party? Inside the moon?
Why do all the other man made Markers work? In Dead Space 2 we find out that they don't cause convergence unless they absorb the minds that made them. Because they absorbed the minds that created them.
Who made the other markers? The aliens.
Why doesn't Danik just kill Isaac after the second time he escapes? Because that would have ended the game rather quickly.
Does he think that the third time would be the charm? Danik's pretty crazy, maybe it's just that.
Is he some kind of moron? Yeah I didn't like him either. Bad design of character. He's a moron.
How do Janik's top men, in an army that has toppled government, get taken out by one engineer with a total of one day of combat experience against zombies? Things are crazy maaaaaaaan.
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy??? Here, have a cup of tea.

Well that was fun.

Yes, because the story, characters, and dialogue were the strong points of the first two games...

I like the story as a backdrop, as context for what I'm doing as Isaac, but I'm not really going to apply logic or critical examination to the writing here. Some of those questions could be equally applied to the previous two games. The military officers of the Dead Space universe are hilariously ineffective, considering that one man without any practical combat experience and armed with mining equipment can one-man-army his way through hundreds of hell-spawn creatures of which they can't even kill one singular creature. I refuse to believe that they're armed with something worse than the Pulse Rifle, and just by sheer virtue of the number of bullets being sprayed out you'd think they could at least kill one Necromorph.

Why doesn't Isaac aspirate when he is exposed to a vacuum for 5 seconds with no helmet on?
Why is there an atmosphere within the blood moon?
Did the blood moon come down to the planet, or did it suck Isaac into space?
After the blood moon dies, and Isaac is floating in (space?) without a helmet on, why is he breathing?
After the credits, why is Isaac STILL breathing?
Why does this game have so many similarities to Mass Effect 3 thematically and plot wise?
How does an EVA suit, which is ostensibly a glorified astronauts suit, survive being blown up by mines and pulled through wreckage?
Why did they let John Woo direct this game instead of John Carpenter?
How did the aliens create a machine that could flash freeze a planet without an energy source more powerful than the sun?
Does killing the blood moon stop the other blood moons?
Are there still other blood moons out there?
Why does this one need to be finished?
What makes this one so special?
After the blood moons eat everything in the galaxy, do they just go back to sleep?
How does an organic creature move through space?
Does it just push off from the planet and float to it's destination?
Does it have butt thrusters?
If it takes millions of years for them to drift through space in this fashion, couldn't one be drifting towards the marker signal on earth now?
If the whole planet is frozen from the machine, and is a singular environment, where do the clouds that snowfall comes from get formed?
Why are there convenient "snow vents" in the cliffs of Tau Volantis?
Why wouldn't the art team at least try to make it look natural?
What would happen if Necromorphs propagated in a vent free environment?
Would they panic?
Are Necromorphs Agoraphobic?
Are they more scared of us than we are of them?
If the aliens have swim bladders and gills, why are they shown walking around on land during the flashback, and why isn't there city entombed in ice?
Do they only stay in the water sometimes?
Do they have two different breathing systems?
Did the writers watch Alien before writing the first film, Aliens before writing the second, and then Prometheus before writing the third?
Why is Isaac the best Necromorph hunter in the galaxy?
Are military personnel incapable of aiming a laser targeted plasma cutter?

Jeez, I'm not going to do that again, buddy. The questions you pose are kinda stupid. Some of them don't make sense, others can be answered if you had looked at the plot a little bit more carefully. In Star Wars: How does an organic creature move through space? A: Who the fuck cares?

It's about the massive Lovecraftian creatures that will devour all life in the galaxy. Yes, that is reminiscent of Mass Effect. No, it's not a rip-off. The creatures are mysterious, you don't get to know them an awful lot. They are just 'there' and they are dangerous. Who cares how they move through space? It's about the atmosphere it conveys. These creatures are as old as the universe, and you are asking for an explanation on that?

TL;DR: You are a RedLetterMedia wannabe.

What I'd like to know:

Why does Norton force Isaac to help find Ellie at gunpoint?
How then does Norton fly directly to Ellie right after without any need of Isaac?
Why does Norton, after his determination to recruit Isaac, then decide to let Danik know exactly where to find them?
Why does Norton, who supposedly loves Ellie call Danik in the first place, who then proceeds to try and kill every single one of them, bombing the bridge, for example?
Why does Norton get mad at Isaac, who he knows still cares for Ellie when he is recruited (or so we're led to believe), but not Ellie who is supposed to be over Isaac and in love with him?
Why does anyone in the group think going to the planet with two soldiers and no supplies is a better option than seeking help?
Considering the moon was just discovered after (at least) 200 years, why does Ellie believe that "Now!" is the only timeframe in which the necromorph menace can be dealth with once and for all, instead of getting help?
Doesn't Danik stop to think how hypocritical he is when he says shit like "You can't possibly know what the Moon even does!"?
Why doesn't Isaac get hypothermia when his body temperature evidently drops as much as it does?
How can Danik claim to be a "man of reason and science" yet be a Unitologist?
How can Isaac lift giant rocks when on those amplifer platforms, but not "living" necromorphs?
How the hell does Danik get to the "Machine" first, after the insane amount of bullshit Isaac had to do to get there?
Come to think of it, how does Danik get everywhere before Isaac?
Why doesn't Isaac just take one of Danik's shuttles and skip everything from Chapters 9-17?
What is Carver (the trained veteran soldier) doing the entire time Isaac (a psychotic engineer) is doing what he does?
How/why do the Regenerators escape from their confines of 200 years at precisely the moment Isaac happens to visit?
How was it that Isaac managed to encounter every audio log recorded by Serrano and his SCAF colleagues in precisely the chronological order in which they were recorded 200 years earlier?

The story and characters were among the worst I've ever come across in a AAA game. The dialogue was worse than a B-Movie and with the removal of the armour/weapon upgrade system and weapon-specific ammo, the most Dead-Spacey thing about the series were removed, allowing Isaac to use any gun with impunity. Guns which, when upgraded, almost entirely removed the need to dismember limbs, the only other thing unique to DS.

Dead Space was a copy of Resident Evil 4 in a sci-fi setting. This isn't a bad thing as Resident Evil 4 was a genre-defining game unmatched before or since. Dead Space 3 was a poor copy of Dead Space, but without most of what that game got right. A copy of a copy.

Actually I think I might have that one. The one time I paid that attention, I spotted her eyes were each of a different colour. Presumably then, she had it replaced with another, real or fake.

This does raise the further question however, of why then if she went to the trouble of getting a replacement, she didn't get one the same colour.

Ahh right, makes sense. Being the future and all I would presume it was real, but being a different colour probably not. Eye patch would've been totally cooler anyway.

Dead Space didn't have the most watertight plot of the series, granted. But half of these questions do have answers that are explained within the game, a lot were down to choices made to improve the gameplay which maybe led to a few retcons and some of the others are just so nitpicky that you might as well make one of these threads for every game that comes out.

About the "why doesn't convergence occur on earth?" Because as hinted in conversation with Danik, the black marker can not only create necromorphs. Apparently it is also the driving force behind evolution, the black marker purposely "keeps a low profile" to produce biomass for others of the brother moons to feed on. Perhaps it's also useful to produce a species on some planet with the intelligence to go into space so the infection can be spread to other planets with that species.

The dog and baby question can be answered by uptight people who think it's terrible to kill fictional mutated chilluns. And because they did that I am going to boot up Dead Space 2 and play through the school level a bunch of times just to piss them off.

THey just couldn't afford it. There's a text log in Isaac's apartment that explains it at the very beginning of the game.

A gameplay choice, he's with you every step of the way in Co-op of course.

And the Regenerators hadn't escaped their confines 200 years previously because they were not loaded onto the ship properly before scenario five was initiated. When Issac loads the Terra Nova with the cargo that is blocking everything in that little mini-game where you fit the cargo pieces together you will notice that two of the pieces are the glass cargo tubes that one of the Regen breaks free from later and you can see the Regenarators being loaded into the ships cargo bay waking them up from their stasis. You effectively create your own problems there as they were in Deep space before you loaded them into the hold.

No point to Norton existing, I'll give you that.

Because the unitologists murdered all of EarthGov and dragged the bodies to the marker to start convergence.

Taurus Vis said:

It didn't really, the Asteroid killed the hive mind and the marker and thus wiped out the signal and all the other necromorphs die.

Because his helmet was broken. Hello, you were NOT PAYING ATTENTION.

Gameplay reasons.

Taurus Vis said:
Why is a massive cult one of the most popular religions in the future?
Why not?

Taurus Vis said:
How do Necromorphs organize themselves when they are moving through vents twenty at a time?
It's like the child's game sardines, only with necromorphs.

Taurus Vis said:
Why do military weapons do so much damage in this game, despite Dead Space 1 logs making it clear that conventional weapons do very little.
Conventional Weapons did fine, it was just that the military was trained to aim for the body instead of the Limbs. The pulse rifle is a military weapon, and it was perfectly viable in DS 1 and 2.

Taurus Vis said:

Because EarthGov snuffed it out and quarantined it pretty fast. Also, they destroyed the black marker.

Taurus Vis said:
Why would the Blood Moon being completed cause Covergence across the galaxy?
It doesn't cause convergence across the entire galaxy. It just does a localized convergence on all nearby planets with a marker, and then afterwards sends a signal to the rest of the brethren moons.

Taurus Vis said:
Why are there so many markers on Tau Volantis?
Why are there so many drawings of markers everywhere a marker shows up? Markers beget markers, the symbols drive people crazy and make them build new markers.

Why do the Aliens only turn into one kind of Necromorph?
They probably didn't have time to create a lot of alien necrmorph variants.

Taurus Vis said:
Why does scanning an alien cause Isaac to have a Prothean vision?
Because a science team 200 years ago did all the hard work of deciphering and translating it. Plus Isaac has the knowledge gifted to him from his two previous encounters with markers.

Taurus Vis said:
Do the Necromorphs have a dance party?
Yes.

Taurus Vis said:

They had enough bodies to trigger convergence, with the overthrow of earthgov and all.

Which other markers? Humanity made a lot of other markers. So did the Tau Volantis aliens. So did other alien races in the galaxy.

You just answered your own questions. Danik has a bloody gunship to fly everywhere, Isaac doesn't.

Half these questions were explained very well in the game itself. You were not paying attention very well.
