The Rabbids Are Back in Rabbids Go Home

Ubisoft [http://www.ubi.com] has announced a new standalone Rabbids adventure, Rabbids Go Home, set to launch for the Wii later this year.

Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the studio behind games including Nintendo Wii [http://beyondgoodevil.com/]. Rabbids Go Home will drop players into a "hilarious adventure in a brand new universe" as the Rabbids wreak their own special brand of havoc in an attempt to return to their home.

A kind of thickly-built, bug-eyed and particularly high-strung rabbit-type creature, Rabbids first appeared in 2006 as the antagonists of Rayman Raving Rabbids [http://raymanzone.us.ubi.com/ravingrabbids/index.html], but their violent, hopeless slapstick antics quickly turned them into a fan favorite. Finally, after years of popularity in the Rayman Raving Rabbid games as well as short online videos, the Rabbids are breaking out with their own standalone game.

Rabbids Go Home is being developed exclusively for the Wii and is scheduled to launch for Christmas 2009.

They are always good for a laugh, and there just aren't any games that attempt humour anymore these days. That said, I would love to see a new Conkers game, which did humour very well.

It looks good, but we'll have to see about that especially after Raving Rabbids 2 gave me a bad taste in my mouth.

After the epic fail that was "Rayman: Raving Rabids" I don't see why they are bothering...
Oh wait, money. Lots of juicy cash cow money...

Really? Because having worked at a game store on the release dates of both of those games I didn't really notice a crowd killing each other over those games. More like the occasional buyer looking for a more lighthearted game. I think those games lost them more money than they made.

Shhh... A developer might overhear comments like these and not shoot themselves in the foot.
The game must have made enough money to warrant a sequel/spinoff/whatever this is actually going to be. Remeber: it doesn't need a raving and rabid Haloesque Fanboy base frothing at the mouth and stomping on small children to get it on release to be profitable.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

*ahem*

I'm interested. I never played the original, but I loved the ads. Hilarious.

They're milking it for all it's worth, but there's something endearing about the blighters. At least they're making a game that goes beyond the repeated gameplay so far and just... let's the rabbids be rabbids.

Also: BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
[small](I know it sounds like DAAAAAAA, but Ubi assures us is it's the former)[/small]

I would rather have them make another Rayman game.

Because this just shows that Wii is good only for parties. With specific people...

Hold on, they were "antagonists" in the first Rabbids game? Did I miss something here? Because as far as I can tell, there was no plot or, well, anything to the first game other than dumb party games involving flailing the Wiimote like you're having a seizure.

And here I was hoping the Rabbids franchise had died. Oh well.

It was also a crappy PC game. For "parties"... not really.
