Obviously, TFU has been used a great deal to discuss the new Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game. While enjoying the demo and planning to buy the game shortly despite negative to average reviews, I firmly believe the acronym has been claimed by a far greater cause: The short-lived Spaced TV series and the battle-bot TFU: The Fuckest Uppest.
For those of you who may have missed this modern classic, it was Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's two season masterpiece of pop culture jokes and nerd-based bliss. A great underappreciated show that obsessed over video games, comics, and Star Wars in particular. At first, I just assumed it was an annoying coincidence and that I was over the hill for not making the association.
Now, thinking back, I think maybe the Star Wars team used these initials specifically as a nod to the "Spaced" crew and their obvious love of the series(at least the original trilogy). So, I suppose the topic of discussion is whether the Star Wars team was aware of this series, or if it was simply an odd coincidence? And of course, if you don't care about the coincidence, feel free to discuss what you loved about the show and favorite quotes/scenes/SW geekdom.
