title says it all. what is the most sad moment you´ve ever experienced in a game.

My personal choice has to be in Heroes of Might and Magic 5: Tribes of the East:
i had to sacrifice Ornella to be able to fight the final boss of the campaign.

honorable mention goes to:

COD4´s ending.

Spoiler tags and search buttons.
I mean, you don't need 'em for Aerith's death, but some of us are still playing our way through the M&M games.
Namely, me.

I can't say definitively because my memory sucks, but I'm playing through Persona 3 FES at the moment, and (not wishing to spoil anything) it's got a few moments that made my eyes get misty, particularly one death at the middle-of-the-game turning point.

The thing that makes this particular moment so unique is that the really heartrending part is how the characters are affected by the death after it happens.

It's definitely a lot more engrossing than, say, Aeris' death. That was good storytelling, sure, but unlike the moment from P3FES, after the scene was over, so was the emotional impact of it.

Cool topic, by the way.

Well i would have to say on metroid prime 3 the fight between samus and her possessed purple friend. You usually never see samus showing human emotion just like master chief but In this moment in caught me by surprise i guess.

COD4 Well Yeah it was a sad ending but did I see it coming? yes.

I've played P3, I know exactly what scene you're talking about. It is indeed dramatic stuff, which is why I loved that game so much.

I know this might sound weird but any time I beat a Zelda game and I see Zelda and who ever Link met on his journey return to where they came from I get abit teary.

When Delita's sister was killed because of Algus. It's not only a moment that pisses you right off, but i felt really bad for Delita as that was the beginning of slow downfall.

Oh and when Celes takes her "leap of faith"

The end of MGS3 is some of the most soul-crushing shit I've ever seen.

It still makes me cry today.
