We were all sitting in the mess hall looking at the television we all knew what was gonna happen even if we didn't want to say it. I had been in the army for six years now and it seemed like the world was coming to an end and everyone was gonna fight it out. Most of the new recruits were scared They had never had any real combat experience. Truthfully even though I had experience this scared the shit out of me. This wasn't a simple war with one enemy this was the whole world against each other.
"Attention!!!"
We all stood to attention
"At Ease!"
Yelled the corporal
"Sargent Jaimes you've been assigned to Charlie 2 you are to prepare for combat"
He handed me the assignment papers and left.
I'm fucked
Jimmy sat on his bunk stripping down his AUG A1. He was hoping to see some action. Even though none of the factions had declared war everyone felt it was just around the corner. He took out his USP and checked the sights. He checked both his guns clips. 30 in the AUG, 18 in the USP. Full mags. Kicking his feet up onto his bunk he thought about how his first battle would be. Would he survive? What would it be like to kill a man? Would he desert? He hoped not. He wanted the action.
The Russian tanks which were clearly visible from the Norwegian border had begun to move, they were archaic and badly in need of maintenance, used mostly as a means to remind the Norwegians of the huge gap in military prowess. But now they had begun to move, being taken back to Murmansk and returned in peak condition. Something big was about to happen, and with the two nations relations plummeting due to the Russian aircraft flying close to the border, it was obvious what they were preparing for.
Fen. Haakonsen put down his binoculars and entered the cabin, inside there were ten conscripts and six trained men from the Norwegian Border Company, all making merry and drying their clothes from a long march along the border.
'They have no idea, or maybe they do, but just try not to think about it.' He thought as he looked upon the men and women he had traveled through snow and biting winds for the better part of a week with.
He was a Marine Jeger Kommando, a Naval Ranger Commando, and he was here to accompany the patrol and gather intel on the Russian rearmament in the north.
He pulled off his outer clothes and hung them to dry as he looked out the window, towards the Russian border.
He looked at the former checkpoint at Storskog, once the only legal crossing point between Norway and Russia, now it was only a few empty buildings, abandoned by both sides.
He grabbed himself a cup of hot water and made some instant coffee, horrible stuff, but one couldn't complain out here, and went back out to take another look.
Tell me if it's too long, or if I totally missed the point.
Serjei was sitting in his bunk. No official statements had reached his base in the Ukraine, and the diplomats were still having official talks to try and salvage the salvable, but he knew how it was going to end.
He knew he had to be brave and serve his motherland, like his grandfather and father before him. He wasn't going to let them down.
edit: I realize this is criminally short. I was bouncing around a few ideas, but I didn't want to make it too long.
Will thanked the aide, who opened the door to the office and ushered him in. Inside was a bright, open room, with a desk in the centre, behind which sat the President of America
"So, Mr TroiMots, what can I, or should I say America, do for Britain?"
"Well, sir, our intelligence suggests that the Russian Protectorate are preparing for war, and we hope the NAC could support us. No one wants a nuclear war, and perhaps the power of the NAC will be enough to discourage Russian and her allies"
Jimmy was at the shooting range. Lifting his AUG he fixed his eye down the sights. The gun kicked back as he pulled the trigger. All of them were around the head of the target. He'd have no trouble in a war.
The President nodded, picking up a remote. He turned on a screen, and looked at William. "Now, if you would look at this screen..." he trailed off, as the screen showed a sattelite image of the worlds main powers.
"I would prefer if that green stayed where it was, I assume you would too?" The President spoke. "I also assume you are here to secure aid from us." he stated, "I can deploy a few infantry and an armored company, and I have the USS Barack Obama and some escorts on standby." He nodded to William, "Any more aid will cost you, I'm stretching it as it is."
Will smiled. "Whatever you can offer is greatly appreciated, sir, but as to paying for the extra troops, I'll have to ask the government, but they may want to save their money for our own military. However, I thank you again for the offer, and for the forces you are already giving" So saying, he held out his hand to the President
"TEN-HUT!" the sergeant called. STOMP! Jimmy was beside his bunk in an instant. "Men we've got a crisis. The russian protecterate is getting too powerful and could move in any direction at any time! We're being deployed to the border. I want you assembled and ready in 5." He said and walked away.
OOC: Hope that doesn't change the plot or anything.
The President shook Will's hand, and gave the order for Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Gamma 3, and Charlie 2 company's to prepare for deployment. "The helicopter will take you back to the harbor-" he was cut off by a siren going off, and the phone rang. "Hello? What? I see. Speed up the deployment." Looking up at Will, he sighed. "Its finally happening, Russian Protectorate troops are crossing the borders as we speak. The ECP and BDT are trying to hold them back, but the russians are already launching naval fleets and aircraft."
"You can go now, I have a feeling I'm going to be busy soon."
"Ok men we head to the troop ships in..." The sarge was cut of by an important looking man. "The RP has crossed the border men. I repeat they have declared war. We're changing the mission. We're going to back up the ECP and BDT. You'll be deployed at the same position except this time any RP troops are hostiles and shall be dealt with accordingly. Now get to the ships."
My character is looking at a Russian armoured brigade right across the border, with only a small patrol of 16 people (10 of them are conscripts) to back him up.
Retreat seems like the only option (But also what the border guards would have been expected to do, gather intel as they take a covert retreat south).
"Attention troops today were deploying to help out our English friends out mother Russia has crossed the border and order are out hold the enemy at the line and stop them from advancing."
The master Sargent yelled out.
We were in a A400M flying over Europe to our destination things were getting tense. You could feel it in the air the feeling you get before a battle of restlessness, courage and fear. i saw a soldiers hand shaking
"Hey grunt what you shaking for everything will be alright we just have to hold the line as long as keep steady you'll be fine"
The solider nodded for acknowledgment even though i told him that i knew thing would go wrong it was a proven fact hell it was Murphy's Law.
