This is like giving a cure for cancer to someone that does not have Cancer over the person that NEEDS the cure.

This could have been in opportunity to also have Squats in Dawn of War 3 :(

... really, Samtemdo8? Dwarfs had Engineers since way before Age of Copyrightable Names; they've just made an entire faction of them now. You're blowing this a little out of proportion.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Ok, showing video of static figures does not warrant "epic" music of that sort.

Uhhh, I'm not seeing the problem. Dwarves were a major faction in WFB, so it makes sense they'd be brought back for AoS.

Goodness, "Kharadron Overlords" is one mouthful of a title. Is this another attempt by Geedubs to abandon old names because they couldn't trademark it? Because I'm just gonna call them "Dwarves," just like how I ignore "Astra Militarum" and stick with the good old "Imperial Guard."

In any case, I pretend that AoS doesn't exist, so this doesn't really impact me.

Wellll I guess we can only hope!

The only reasons why they got rid of the Squats, was because the designers felt the name Squats didn't do the race justice and that the race never fit into the 40k universe properly. That and some people thought they looked like midget bikers from outer space.

Maybe now that GW are giving the Dwarves their own name and a "futuristic" look...Maybe? Old Squats like me can only sit back, mutter in our beards and hope they'll bring us back in - with a giant grudge against the Tyranids for nomming on so many of our kin!

The problem is people got their hopes up that we'd see our good ol' space dwarves again and then they didn't.

And I want me some space dwarves.

not if you're gw.
they've been that way when they realized 40k is a bit of a trainwreck so they became "the worlds best miniature producer" and this is them trying to hype everything up. lost a lot of soul in the minis now a days.
It's like why i think the formations crap is the sleaziest shit ever, designed to push more models.
I wouldn't be suprised if 8th redesigned the system to allow players to play, imperuim, eldar, chaos as block and just ramp up minor xenos like tau in power.
>orks and nids are still trash

So, I went and found the actual models on Warhammer Community [https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/03/15/a-new-race-descends-on-the-mortal-realms/], and... that killed my enthusiasm pretty quickly.

I mean, this:

just looks excessive. Those weapons look more ritual than practical. I guess I just wish they'd gone with a more Warmachine-esque [http://privateerpress.com/files/products/41093_GeneralOssrumWEB.jpg] look.

That's AoS in a nutshell. Overdone, overpriced models. Good thing GW is planning on doing the same thing to 40k! :D

But yeah, this is what every new model that has come out looks for AoS. Lest we forget the original models for this series was called the "bloodstroker".

Good fucking God those look hideous! If I wanted to buy those... or collected Dwarves... or played AoS to begin with, I'd likely shave like 40% of those pointless details right off with a hobby knife. It's particularly bewildering that GW's main line still churns out trash like this, while also putting out beautifully simple stuff for Horus Heresy like the new Tartaros Terminators and MKIII Space Marines. The Mark III Marines in particular look so good I want to buy a set just to have them.

Though this does give some rather suitable models for diehard Squats fans to play with the Space Marines rules. Most of the models on the page seem very suited for Chapter Masters, Techmarines, Assault Marines and Devastators, and those fliers you could easily proxy as Stormtalons and Stormravens.

Maybe it's just me, but some of those armors have a Fallout power armor-y feel to them. Nothing wrong with that, mind you. It just caught my eye.

Proof if ever it was needed that AoS is a train wreck in slow motion. Such a horrendous tragedy, but I can't look away.

Wouldn't mind so much if you could get the old style minis, they get replaced by the new sillier stuff.

But, eh, not like I play dwarves, or AoS at all.

I can't decide if it's the excess of details on the models, or if it's the gaudy paintjob; either way, I still would have preferred if they'd just slapped some steam engines on the backs of the Irondrakes [https://www.games-workshop.com/en-SE/Dwarf-Irondrakes] - the old models just look more designed for purpose (Warfare) than these... Dwarf Space Pirates or whatever they're supposed to be.

Eh, too much pointless detail annoys me (and people trying to resculpt or 3d print, I'm told, which might be the reason they do it). They also are a bit samey, with the same pointless detail stuck on everything GW makes nowdays.
