Was anyone else rather unimpressed with it? It is cool and all, but thats a given when you add zombies. But I swear I have seen it all done before, and better.
I would like to know where, as I'd watch it. I've never ever seen anything resembling the care taken with the series in a live action format. The closest I've seen was a book-on-tape of World war z that I listened to on a long car trip.
And infection spread by bite? C'mon. Its gone from unoriginal to absolutely improbable. It would be put down in a matter of hours if that was really the case.
.
The infection spread by bite is going to be dealth with later in the series. Again READ THE COMICS BEFORE WHINING. Right now, the characters THINK the infection is spread by bite. They might be wrong. Oh boy the might be wrong. And that might be REAL unfortunate if the time they realise that they were wrong was when most folk have their back turned while one guy is lowering the 'corpse' into the ground without protection...

I still can't understand how they get away with saying "shit" and "ni---r" on Basic cable, can someone explain that to me?
Honestly, the only thing stopping other networks is themselves. The way I understand it (which could be totally wrong, mind you), is that there are only legally mandated content restrictions for the original broadcast channels, like NBC, ABC, that kind of thing. From a legal point of view, anyone else can do whatever they want.

Most networks have self imposed restrictions because that's the 'family friendly' face they want to present to the world. You couldn't get away with anything like that on SyFy for instance. However, thankfully there are a few places out there willing to let shows go as far as they feel they need to. Thank god Walking Dead was picked up by AMC, and not something that would have chopped it down.

In case you couldn't tell, that kind of attitude really bugs me.

Yeah, I agree with that. First episode seemed like a 28 days later rip-off. Second episode was cheesy as hell the way everyone was some kind of expert driver and marksman. I just feel like the writing would be a whole lot better if they we're directly ripping off so many other shows/movies.

I'm just glad to see a full blown TV series that is actually carrying on a continuous storyline of a zombie apocalypse. I'm not sure if there has been any before but so far I am loving this series, but alas I have no knowledge from the comics themselves so everything that I am seeing is new to me and quite enjoyable.

I don't think you've seen it done before, and better. I say this because you're either lumping all zombie related media in to one category (Shawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later, for example) or you've somehow come across a rare gem of something zombie related that the majority of the world doesn't know about that is dark, gritty, and realistic with an insane attention to detail and a Jim Carrey zombie.

If only this show broadcasted in Australia...are there any plans to do so or has it been broadcasted on the basic channels without my knowledge?

If it's good enough they'll probably sell it to other countries. Knowing Holland though we might get it in, say, a year or 2, so as it is now I'm forced to acquire the episodes in a...less than legal way.

Don't know about Australia though. You guys got Stargate Universe pretty quick, but I think the SyFy (gods I hate that name) Channel is internationally coordinated.

Oh...here we go again! There´s always someone who compares 28 Days Later to TWD, as if «waking up in a hospital» was Danny Boyle´s idea. Maybe those people should check out The Day of the Triffids. It´s a classic way of putting the main character in a situation he doesn´t understand, for christsakes!

I don't get all the love for this series. Granted I only saw the first 2 episodes and it just seems too formulaic. Maybe I just don't like being able to tell what's going to happen next well before it happens, but if a generic zombie survival story is your thing then I hope you guys enjoy it. I for one am dropping it from my viewing rotation.

Self-imposed censorship. I know some USA shows (In Plain Sight) and TNT shows (The Closer and Saving Grace) have started using curses more frequently. I can tell you it was odd to hear someone curse the first time on those shows.

I didn't notice any "expert" driving in either episode. As for marksman, I noticed a few missed shots from Rick (the cop).

I love both episodes despite the fact that
Zombies are supposed to notice you if you walk covered in gore.
Just curious, was that true in the comic itself and changed in the series (having not read the comic book series)?
Not True. Covering yourself in Zombie guts does fool them in the Comic. Again it was the rain that put an end to that. :D

Both episodes were just awesome I find myself craving for more. There was never any doubt that the series will get a second season. There's only 6 episodes of season 1 after all.

I am surprised it get away with only a TV14 rating but I'm not complaining.
Haha yeah! When I first saw it I saw the 14 standing there I feared the worst. A few minutes later you see a shambling corpse with its guts hanging out and all was good.

Just watched the first episode last night. I say it certainly has potential. Sadly, I'm not familiar with the comics. I'll have to dig up the second episode online or pester a friend that has it on Tivo.
