The Week in Review - Plants, Prisons and Interpretive Dance

In this week's edition, "zombies on the lawn" lead to inmates on the loose, and Marvel takes heat over its Happy Meal toys.

Marvel Takes Heat for Human Torch

What's the worst thing about a Happy Meal? Not enough fries maybe? Burger not amazing? Perhaps that patronizing bag of carrot sticks? Well, according to the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, the worst part is the horrifying toys that come with the food. Apparently the Thing, and his catchphrase "It's Clobbering Time," will incite violence all across the nation. Good thing we were warned in time. Why is it that the people who want to protect the children are a lot stupider than the kids they're trying to protect?

I like to believe it's natural selection and we're slowly evolving.

Quite a week it was... Was it not?
Very much so. I'm still amazed Plants vs Zombies was so addicting. And those happy meal toys thing was hilarious.

Glad to see Ubisoft has learned its lesson...even if it only took them forever to do so!

Logan Westbrook is now the Escapist's officer in charge of digging up old news, I guess. (And I'm not [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/102726] just [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/102753] referring [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/102770] to this article; it's just that those three didn't allow comments.)

I suppose I can understand the Escapist wanting to "bump" its articles, and they were excellent articles, but it seems out of place in the news section, seeing as I'd already read them on the Escapist days earlier. Usually posts in a magazine's news section are sourced from other places, not just the exact same magazine from a couple of days ago. Just sayin'.

Mental note for prison guards: when playing computer games, do not leave your keys dangling in reach of prison inmates.

DotA already has spawned 3 games outside of the Warcraft 3 engine. League of Legends, Heroes of Newarth and Demigod. Valve will actually be the 4th studio (presuming no one else makes one) to "turn the mod into a full blown game".

If you haven't played it, I suggest trying out League of Legends, it's free and a lot of fun. People are also much kinder than on DotA and HoN games, giving LoL the reputation of being a "noob friendly" DotA game.
