The Week in Review - Trolls, Tragedy and Trivia

In this week's edition, Ben Heck puts a very special hole in his shirt and a young man wins BlizzCon by out-nerding Blizzard.

Cataclysm: Twice the Size of Your Regular Expansion

While it you might not think it, rebuilding a world can be a pretty big job, a fact that Blizzard discovered while making the Cataclysm expansion for World of WarCraft. Speaking to our very own John Funk, Blizzard's Rob Pardo said that Cataclysm actually had taken as much work as two regular expansions. Pardo also said that Blizzard had used the opportunity to get a handle on a lot of the game's unnecessary complexity. I'm just still baffled at how people think the red shirt guy is some sort of WoW lore god. He admits in the clip that he just read the book concerning the character, there is absolutely no evidence that shows he knows more about anything concerning the WoW lore. Did he catch the WoW guys flat footed? Sure, but there are thousands of characters in wow, and blizz just happened to make a small mistake in the beta(one that was actually correct previously in many of the builds), do you honestly expect someone to remember the fine details of every character.
The guy just noticed the mistake on a single character from information he had just obtained, while the blizzard guys have obscene amounts of WoW lore in their head, seriously it's an interesting video and worth a chuckle, but people are blowing this guys knowledge/nerdiness out of proportion.

TL;DR: Crazy shit happens and Cataclysm will be good according to Blizzard.

Also theres a guy who knows stuff about WoW with a red shirt on.

I'm very surprised that a troll got himself thrown in jail, I'm even more surprised that it's for 18 weeks, when you think about it, thats actually a pretty long time for a crime like that .

The guy who got himself jailed is not just your average troll. When he's actually causing distress to a family who's lost a loved one, that isn't just your regular facetious internet troll. Regardless of what defines a troll, this man was under the same circumstances as someone who shouts racial hatred in the street.
I think he deserves his jail sentence.

Don't rain on the red shirt guys parade. It's his 5 minutes of fame and he won by having that nerdy knowledge. I was really hoping that he was a fellow Escapist so we could throw him a party! As for the troll he got his 5 minutes of fame as well. Only his was negative and I do believe in karma! He will (in the long run) get what he deserves!

So...

*Justice

*Stupid Headcase, that will inevitably used to attack the gaming industry in the future.

*WoW nonsense

*Pure Awesome

*WoW...again.

Quite a boring week, all told (then again, I'd rather watch WoW burn, so..bias!)
