The Week in Review

The Week in Review: In this weeks' edition, Kotick speaks out, DC gets a new set of publishers, Ubisoft outlines its draconic DRM, Molyneux talks co-op and a man is jailed unfairly.

Kotick Defends Himself Against His Bad Reputation

Christopher Handley, an Iowan comic-book collector, has been jailed for six months for possessing and mailing Japanese porn comic books that depicted child sex and bestiality. The sentence was the result of a plea bargain offered to him by the prosecution which he accepted based on the advice of his lawyer. It's worth mentioning that the man did not have any actual child pornography, and while drawings of child sex are likely to offend just about everyone, they are not the same thing. Fable 3 is looking to be great. Although I doubt the hand-holding is going to make it in.

And Bobby Kotick is just a businessman. He want to take the fun out of game DEVELOPMENT, not the games themselves. Game development is a business, after all.

Kotick Defends Himself Against His Bad Reputation: A lot of the stuff he says I don't agree with (The whole taking the 'fun' out of game design) but some stuff he says I do agree with (People love sequels. They do). I do think he recieves a bad rap at times, but dammit if some of the stuff he says doesn't get my blood boiling.

So I Herd U Liek Watchmen?: Really need to watch that film.

Ubisoft is Watching: There are many words I would like to direct to Ubisoft, none are suitable for the ears of small children and the weak of heart. They're not very nice words, I'll say that much.

Fable 3 Co-op Does Not Require Cooperation: As always with anything from Molyneux, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. It sounds interesting, but I'll reserve judgement for the exact performance.

Man Jailed for Hentai Collection: See Ubisoft, but replace it with the 'Justice' system.

If you're not enjoying your work or happy with it, you're less likely to work the best you can. People who enjoy their jobs almost always do better at them. A happy workforce is a productive workforce. Other such little catchphrases to demonstrate that producing anything as a business, be it games, porn or industrial vats to hold hydrochloric acid- if your workers aren't happy, things will go wrong and you'll end up footing the bill.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Fable 3's co-op system sounds like what people tend to expect with open worlded gameplay and co-op. Burnout Paradise already did it correctly. Take notes Molyneux, almost every genre has already done this correctly.

For a second I thought the article was going to say: "Like its predecessor, Fable 3 will have a co-op mode, but unlike Fable 2, it won't SUCK.
