Why does everybody seem to think that negative traits and/or unlikeability = poor character? Stories would be boring if everybody was a likeable, honest character.

Like Roy Earle, for example. He has a strong character and provides an important role in the game. Yet, because he doesn't act in the best interests of the player, he's suddenly worst character ever? That just plain doesn't make any sense.

The same goes for characters like Miranda and Brucie that I also saw mentioned as well. The worst character ever is a title that has to go to somebody so utterly bland, one-note and incapable of progression that there is absolutely no value to having them in a story.

I nominate Harbinger.

Waluigi.

Think about it, he the second fiddle to a character who is himself a cookie cutter reversal of Mario as a bad guy. What's worse, he only exists because Nintendo needed to create a partner for Wario in Mario Tennis. Yet they keep shoving him down our throat in every Mario sports or party game since. No one likes him.

Tell me you can't imagine him standing with his face pressed against the fence of a kindergarten, watching the children play. Breathing heavily, while one of his hand creeps ever closer to his crotch

It's like they took "The Architect" from the Matrix's snot nosed nephew and put him in a glowing onesie.

What even happened to him?!? He was so good in Awakening, and then DAII happened. If there was ever a meme about it, it would probably be something like,
"I used to be a witty, likable mage, but then I took a DAII to the personality. -_-

You know that one character in Legend of Zelda? You know, the one who says "Hey! Look! Listen!". I wonder what it was called.

Even though I hated him, I felt really bad about his death.

Fayt Leingod (shittiest fantasy name ever) from Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. When he became an orphan, I cheered.

Any character that I have to escort that cannot fight back in any game. Seriously. Dead Rising was kinda bad about having rather weak defenseless survivors.

Anders definitely deserves an honorable mention. The character with no personality, sexuality, or motives.

He does literally whatever the plot needs him to do in order to railroad the player. Even killing his ass won't stop him.

Want an obnoxious ugly twat shouting dated catchphrases at you every 20 seconds?

He's got you covered.

Listen to that voice. JUST LISTEN TO THAT FUCKING VOICE.
That's what you get to hear the whole fucking game.

There is a 92.444444% chance that her name was Navi. There is a 23.151% chance that you have played Skyward Sword, and if that is the case, there is a 41.3029% chance that this statement will send you into a fit of rage.

Additionally, there is an 82.1134 chance that your batteries are running low.

That mole from animal crossing that would yell at you for about 10 minutes when you turned off the game without saving.

He would even make you write an apology.

He can go fuck himself.

Anomen, Baldurs gate 2: Whiny, self-righteous prick. Oh, and the only romantic interest for a female PC.

Tidus, FFX: Urgh.

Vaan: FFXII: THe hell SquareEnix? The hell?

Jack: Mass Effect 2. Shut the hell up you whiny Riddick-wannabee.

Arthas: World of Warcraft. So...Bloody...annoying.

Marche: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I'm starting to see a trend in SE character's...

Oh god, this. I loved DA:O, but Sandal just made me so uncomfortable. I cringed every single time I heard him say that word.

Also, as many others have already said, Miranda in ME2, though I did sort of get used to her towards the end, and for some reason I stopped being bothered by her in ME3...

...Oh wait, I remember why:

KILL IT WITH FIRE. I wanted to eat her face (not in that way :p Though while we're on the subject, who romanced her? Anyone? Why would anyone do that?) Seriously, just get off my damn ship. I would have booted her out the airlock first chance I got, but I was paranoid that it might screw me over somehow in the ending. Ha. Funny how that turned out. *totally not still bitter*

Hmmm, bit of a Bioware theme here I see. Probably because Bioware RPGs are the games where I actually give a crap about the characters (which overall they do very well).

I know, right? It's like one step forward, one step back with these guys. "Hey, you get to play as an action hero of any race, gender, and (more so in the third one) sexuality in this game! Also, one of your squadmates is basically topless and another one has the camera permanently glued to her buttcheeks for some reason."

That would be Navi. And while she is annoying, my vote is a tie between two characters, both from the same franchise.

The first pick is Lance Vance from "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City". Every single fucking issue you run into throughout the entire game is either directly or indirectly his fault. The only worthwhile thing he does in that game is turn traitor so you can kill his ass.

As for the second...I won't even say the name, or anything about the character. Three words will suffice. "Niko, my cousin!" Urgh...
