Cult, Noun:a particular system of religious worship, especially with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
Catholics have a ceremony where they believe they literally eat and drink the body and blood of a 2000 year old zombie carpenter.
Christianity as a whole worships ancient human sacrifices (read: jesus) and has many practices and rituals that would be completely weird to outsiders.

Hey I am a studying Jehovah's witness and I agree that much of what other christian's sec's believe is wrong, and yeah I agree that all that stuff is weird and at a point should be hard to believe. But it's still disrespectful to call Christianity a cult. Just because I no longer take part of these practice's, nor by your response either do you but it still don't use cult.

The word cult just bothers me simply because that is what my other christian's call my religious choice while as a whole we believe in the same god and Jesus. Just be specific when you say cult, give's your argument more power and offends less people.

I'm sorry if it offended you, I was trying to make the point that technically you can define pretty much any religion as a cult, especially from the point of view of an outsider like myself and it really depends how much of a negative connotation you give to the word cult, e.g. the dictionary defintition certainly doesn't imply any derrogatory meaning.
I respect your right to choose your own religion, but that doesn't mean it doesnt fall within certain parameters, in this case those of a cult.

1.relatively good terms with the state and secular powers and may even attempt to influence government at times
2.maintain at least tolerant and usually fairly friendly relationships with other denominations in a context of religious pluralism
3.rely primarily on birth for membership increase, though it will also accept converts; some actively pursue evangelization
4.accept the principle of at least modestly changing doctrine and practice and tolerate some theological diversity and dispute
5.follow a fairly routinized ritual and worship service that explicitly discourages spontaneous emotional expression
6.train and employ professional clergy who must meet formal requirements for certification
accept less extensive involvement from members than do sects, but more involvement than churches

when it meets all those critea it stops being a cult and become a denomination

Actually it generally is the case with most humans. Lactase persistence (ie. not being intolerant to dairy) is only common in Northern Europeans (therefore Caucasian Americans and Australians etc by extension). Most Asian and African people are intolerant, and I think Native American populations can have up to 100% intolerance due to dairy products not historically being a part of their diet. The persistence only developed once dairy animals were domesticated and milked. Even areas in the Mediterranean have some intolerance, though because the dairy there is mostly processed into cheese it somewhat negates the effects.

So, basically lactose intolerance is NORMAL.

You clean up after you finish cooking. It's not hard. Put away your trash, clean up your pots and pans and put them away, then enjoy your meal. it takes all of one minute and there's less risk of rotting food stinking up the place. People have left out pots of stuff for DAYS. It's sickening. Thank god a block meeting seems to have helped.

When the trash bin is full, do not try to see how high you can stack things. You take out the full bag and put in a new one. Is that so hard to understand?

and the worst of all.... in a block of all men, when you take a piss, you lift the god damn toilet seat. You do not piss as usual then dribble all over it, meaning the rest of us have to clean it before we can take a shit. For crying out loud it's like some people grew up in a damned cave or something. I mean, you can SEE the piss on the seat. I do not want to go for my morning piss, lift the seat, and stick my thumb in your damned piss.

... sorry, that turned into a bit of a rant, but these are simple things that aren't too hard to teach yourself as you can see the mess it leaves behind!

There is a difference between New York the city and New York the state. This has more to do with international knowledge of New York as the state is usually portrayed as the well known city. I've had to explain to international friends where I lived (which is in upstate New York) and why I can't visit the empire state building every day XD. That segues into this: The "No Child Left Behind" program is doing more harm than good. The teachers are poorly payed(paid? dictionary.com is not very helpful on which one should be used here...), and its a lot easier to lower standards than it is to make kids want to know things. I had a class where we skipped about a third of the material because most of the class was too damn lazy to learn.
