Me and a few friends were just randomly arguing things the other day, I thought I'd open the floor. A few we covered.

Why are they called doughnuts? They don't have any nuts. Also when I was younger there was more jam in doughnuts, the jam to dough ratio was far higher. Now the dough is the majority of the doughnu, what the hell.

Why has no-one brought out the electric spoon?

And of course Why in trifle are the fruit bits at the bottom really poor quality when buying store bought? Seriously they go through all the effort, nice jelly, good sponge that dosen't get soggy, custard that dosen't dominate the flavour and delicious cream. Why do they then decide that they will then go grab some fruit from the side of the road and throw that in there. Either don't get the fruit or get good quality stuff, I don't like it when I make a good cup of tea and some put's there own "teabags" (the Halo kind) in there. So why do it to your own product?

Seriousness in these = 0%

Ah, for stuff like this there's a Miscellany thread that was made not too long ago. Just so ya know :D

Doughnuts might be called so due to that they're shaped mildly like metal nuts, as in nuts and bolts.

The spoon requires no electricity.

I don't know, trifle not sold here. I suppose that the sogginess might be due to the liquidy materials on top of it?
