lol pos being about stuff out of your 'norm'. How bout not thinking in those terms period. Why want to be normative? or frame your tastes to boundaries by thinking other tastes are out of reach or at least somehow so far from what is not "out of your norm"

Because we've all got stuff we usually like and dislike, so a personal norm's going to be established regardless of whether you choose to put it into words, dude.

Musicwise, I'm more of a lounge music, laid-back sort of chap, but I do have a penchant for a few 'mainstream' songs; mainly because they grow on one like a fungus if one is in contact with them for too long (my gym plays MTV constantly...)

Gamewise, the Total War series has been my consistent RTS companion, deviating slightly from my norm of FPSes, but I've been known to engage in some RPG games provided they're set in an established universe... so KOTOR, really.

...Gangnam Style are the exceptions to this rule.

Pop doesn't usually do it for me, but Gangnam Style does.

I like Coldplay and get a lot of shit for it, but I don't care, I like them. So there.

I keep mentioning Coldplay as Dream Theater in their earlier days with shorter songs. Some awesome short songs.

OT: Um, I keep a pretty open mind to things, but the only rap I've found myself liking is Eminem, so that's outside my "norm," I guess.

True. I dunno why though...

metal fans seem to have a ruputation for elitism and being just as close minded....

I say welcome to the Internet and fuck the elites, everyone's equal here. Not all of us metalheads are like that.

OT- For music, I like J-pop (it's way too much fun explaining this to my friends); abingdon boys school and TM Revolution come to mind. Shush, their music's awesome. For games, the only FPS I'll touch nowadays is TF2. I guess it has something to do with the fact that most of my experiences with TF2's online have been generally positive so far. And chess. NOTHING beats chess as a board game [footnote]I think most board games are 'meh' at best, but chess is the best as far as I've seen. I may also start playing shogi as I've tried Chinese chess[footnote]Pretty sweet as well. Seriously, you get a catapult as one of your pieces[footnote]Footnoteception![/footnote]. What's not to like?[/footnote][/footnote].
