Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. I wake up on the weekend, go buy some milk because I see we're out, do some vacuuming, do the laundry. By now it's afternoon, and I pop in a video game to play. My mom wakes up and sees me playing,
"are you just going to play all day?" Damn, never fails.

Maybe I'm a just a bad son but I always try to act friendly to her and try to talk to her about her interests.
"Man, this commercial never ends, right mom?"
"Your getting impatient, must be those video games. They're ruining you."
"..."

But sometimes she's awesome, when I'm playing a shooting game with blood, she would always say "why do you have to play this violent game? Play that sonic fellow, I like him!" I pop it in and play (sonic UGC) "remember when I bought the game system for you? You were so happy, and I had to beat the level for you?" bonding moment feels good man.

I hope you all got the "why don't you play outside and make new friends" line fed to you. you may try to explain that you're happy just playing games and you have enough friends, but they remain convinced that your play video games because you are sad and it affected your 'friend-getting' abilities. After all, every parent wants to see their kid be super popular and being the best in every sport.

They don't say anything, they're okay with my gaming. They know I can take my own responsibility (which I actually can't).

My mom rarely ever comments on my video games, but when she does it's always something along the lines of "you're always playing those video games", or "can you draw yourself away from those things for one minute" - it's all rather typical and bland. It's nothing really I take seriously, as she rarely ever says it in a serious manner; it's usually light-hearted.

My sister, on the other hand, often says "could you stop playing WoW for one minute and come here" - the thing is, I don't play WoW.... apparently that's just become the generic video game which every serious gamer must play.

Whenever my dad sees me playing a game (and sometimes, even when I'm not), he says, "Still playing more of them 'Shoot em ups'?". No matter the game. He asked that when I was playing Sam and Max, even.

Forgot to mention the "do something more important" trump card. If you somehow argue against a parent's other points they will whip this out and you will look like a procrastinating slob. not hating on my parents or anything but damn, nothing like video game ignorance to ruin my day.

Edited the title because I'm sure most of you are past this stage in your lives.

Other than the fact that my father thinks that video games are ruining children worldwide, they don't say anything about it.

You win some, you lose some. :^P

Dad: "Oh, what's this game then?

...

...

Are you winning?"

Mum: "Tidy your room."

Of course, not living at home makes it easier to ignore the them when I feel like it.

my father doesn't care for them. My mother thinks they are childish. My girlfriends mother believes that games are only for children and she is one of those people who are completely ignorant to the depth they can be. I'm trying to be a developer/artist/game programmer, but she thinks it's childish and hopes i will give up and also thinks that life is all about making money. That kinda scares me how much she is into the go to school for the money and not for the passion.

My mums is always commenting about my games. I don't even game a whole lot, but she always tells me to go out and make friends, and also to go do some sport. In fact, she never bought a console for me after the old nintendo 64 and had to get my dad (who I rarely see) to buy me games. Now I just have a DS and my old PS2 because I can't afford anything better than a DS(I do the PC gaming I can on my very old, slow PC, which is not able to run most new games - I play dota and games like world of goo and plants vs. zombies sometimes) and cough up my few dollars to fund my gaming. My mum really hates gaming, and thinks it's a selfish act by men to play games.
