What are some things you've noticed about your (short or long) stay in The Escapist forums? Everywhere has some form of quirk, and it'd be interesting to see what you have noticed.

My answer would be that there is usually a 1:10 ratio in terms of replies and views - usually if there have been 30 replies, you can have a pretty good guess at 300 views.

OK, so not the most interesting thing, but you fire away!

Everyone for some reason wants to know what everyone's most favorite/least favorite thing is. I really don't know why.

Oh so agreed.

Oh, and what I've noticed is that Religion and Politics makes me feel bad for being an atheist.

Surely not...
*goes to check forums*
By Jove I think you're onto something!

OT: The sheer number of Halo/Modern Warfare 2 love/hate threads. And zombie threads, although that seems to be a 'whole of the damn internet' phenomenon.

Portal seems to be the best game ever.
Halo is absolutely terrible.
Games are art.
There are a lot of mixed opinions on this board, and it's great. ^_^

People prefer to be passive aggressive and condescending rather than to be upfront about how mad they are.

Arguments here aren't about who's right, it's about who can look smarter.

I've noticed that a lot of people are doing their best to be intellectual yet also trying to balance that with wacky zany senses of humor. This creates a unique situation and a unique mindset which definetly fits with some form of Escapisim hence the Escapist.

A lot of people tend to think they're the only one who something's something. Weirdly, the "Am I the only one..." threads are sometimes repeats of the same thread by different people.

But what would The Escapist be without 'em...

OT: Basically what I just quoted. Oh! World domination is considered a valid proffesion.

When people make Polls, they always add stupid options which contribute nothing to the question or the thread.

It annoys the piss out of me.

Also everyone is obsessed with zombies.

Because we want to know more about you specifically!
Now tell me, what is your favourite type of shower gel?

OT: Everything I like or find OK is hated.
We tend to band together when we find an obvious troll.
Say something against someone's favourite game and there will be one person who tells you you're wrong and should shut up.

But apart from that, I've noticed the fact we're all lovely people. ^-^ ...At times. >>

Even though the website is american, there are a lot of "british" attitudes around.
What counts as a "British" attitude might I ask?

OT: I've noticed lots of people here have disturbing bodies, judging by that thread based on anatomical oddities.

People like to moan on how events like March Mayhem dilutes the forums with new members and how everything was better in "The good old days". I was there then. It wasn't much of a change.

Everybody seems to have a personality as a poster, they have something to say besides "LOL noobs" or the like.

This... totally, and many users insistance on the giant circle jerk they get into regarding how much smarter the users here are then the rest of the entire internet.

Other then that, I find all of you very amusing and fun to converse with. Even the trolls make me grin.

Intelligence reigns (for the most part) as I've been on other forums and went "....yeah I'm gone." in about two seconds. Every forum as the exceptions, but for the most part I've found solid, intelligent people here on the Escapist and it's honestly what's kept me here.

Yeah, agreed.

And its funny to see how most of the people clamoring for the "good old days" came from mid-late 2009.

Everyone says stuff like "puts flame suit on" when they say something controversial, yet no one ever actually says anything.
