Thinking of buying Bioshock

I'm kinda looking for shooters-RPGs right now cause I have a thing for them. Other than Mass Effect which I can never play (PS3 only), and Fallout 3 (waiting for GOTY edition), I heard Bioshock has some RPG elements and awesome gameplay. I'm always on for replayable story modes as well (always played Half Life 2 and its Episodes non-stop, as well as MGS 4 and Dead Space).

So is Bioshock for me or worth buying?

It may not be as RPG as you think, the leveling system isn't that deep and the customization is very limited. that being said it is an incredible story and has very engaging gameplay so I would still recommend it.

It's not much of an RPG, but sure get it anyway. It's still a great game.

If you absolutely have to play an RPG though, I'd recommend Oblivion.

Get it, but don't expect a deep RPG, it's a very good story
Go for oblivion if you want a good RPG and specialise in marksman and/or magic and viola you have a shooter RPG technically >.>

As stated, it's not too much of an RPG....or an FPS. It's more of an interactive movie. Anyways, it's def. a game that you should play, regardless.

Bioshock is easily one of my 10 favorite games. So, yea, I'd say pick it up.

Like it was said, Bioshock is a sweet game, with less than steller "RPG" elements. The story is indeed good, and not a Space Marine to be found, either. I'm glad to see you considering such a fine game. Though, just stay away from Turok... Was not worth the monies in my most incredible opinion.....

Not if you can find a torrent for System Shock 2.

Play the demo, rent at the most. Way too short. Plus, it is not RPG enough to call an RPG, even if it is a hybrid.

Yeah, buy it. I personally don't see much in the game myself, but it's a decent FPS, and it has quite a bit of depth, if you're into that sort of thing.

Amazing atmosphere. When I had to stop playing to go to my shitty job I kept thinking, "I wish I could go back to Rapture soon."

EDIT: Oh and about the lack of RPG elements, since you enjoy Halflife 2, you should enjoy Bioshock too.

The story will simply blow you away, and by games' end you will be off the edge of your seat. The use of plasmids never gets old.

Get it, the story is genius, and it's one of the best FPS games compared to what I've played. And I've played a number of those.
