So did the troll :p

you're fucking posts...you finally got a smile cracked out of me you bastard.

OT: I think I'll actually prefer the first movie compared to this one, but it still looks very enjoyable nonetheless!

Well, color me interested (not that I wasn't) Certainly gives something to look forward to in terms of larger-then-life type stuff.

Look like the sequel will be a good step up compared to the first (no offence but Thor is my least favourite out of the Marvel movies well connecting to the Avengers). I will be looking forward to it.
I think the good sign here is that there is no direct obvious "this is terrible" in the lead-up movies (except Hulk, probably). What I mean is, everyone's got their least favorite, which is rather nice. Thor was my favorite, actually, for some anecdotal contrast. x)
I really liked The Incredible Hulk, Captain America was my fave but Hulk is up there. I'd argue that Iron Man 2 and 3 were the 'worst' as they were a little clustered and messy, but they were still fun.

As you said, the fact everyone has their own list tends to be a good sign at least in terms of variety.

Can't wait for Antman.

And that's the one movie I didn't see, so that was kind of out-of-my-ass anyway. I just heard that between the remake and the other one it was a bit of a mess. Should've just done my homework :D

Well don't say that, you may hate it.

The first one was a mess, I remember liking it as a kid but looking back, I have no clue what it was about. Its not connected to the second though so theres that at least...

I'm rather disappointed by the lack of Eccleston in this trailer, I thought he was going to be the main villain.

I'm very much 'meh' on this one so far.. trailer didn't grab me at all. Having said that I've dug the Marvel films up until now and so has my good lady - she's as likely to be egging me on to go see these at the cinema as I am to egg her on, so we'll be seeing this regardless. Hopefully will have more fun in the cinema than the trailer might be indicating to me.

Looks a lot better than the first which, whilst being good, just wasn't that eventful compared to the other Phase 1 films. Loki being back is great, but I was more excited knowing that Anthony Hopkins had returned as Odin. Was hoping he'd be in the Avengers for a brief scene, but that was me being hopeful.

I reckon Thanos MIGHT turn up briefly, though. Think about it - all of Asgard is fighting the Dark Elves, so Thanos just waltzes into the weapons vault and takes a very well known glove...

I can't really remember but didn't a bunch of people, cars, and rubble get flung up into the air by the World Engine and then get violently slammed back down? Pretty sure those were deaths. And then of course, there's the ending.

Death is definitely implied, but as I said we never get a confirmation because that would be too much of a traumatic impact for the small children (I guess...?). It is pretty damn clear that they try to skirt hundreds/thousands of civilian deaths past us and just get to that 1 actual death that matters most - Zod in Man Of Steel, and Agent Phil Coulson in Avengers. Y'know, that one single "omg look, an important character is DEAD - this particular death changes everything! Look at it, look at it!" death.

I let Avengers slide because it's generally just a silly-awesome-fun movie where nothing should be taken seriously, especially the invading aliens who couldn't manage to kill even a single person...despite unleashing multiple 1000-tonne worms on the city and opening fire on streets/offices with plasma rifles. Oh and dead aliens + their spacecraft were also raining from the sky in the hundreds, probably wouldn't be pretty if they landed on someone.

But Man Of Steel is playing it dead serious, it makes no sense because Superman kills Zod in order to save a family from getting lazor'd - that is supposed to be the defining twist, Superman defying his morals and choosing the "lesser" of two evils when forced to choose. But countless people have already died as an indirect result of Superman not being able to help them, or Superman collapsing entire freaking buildings in that final fight. Maybe he has really good aim.
I won't really blame Superman too badly because the "never ever kill" concept with superheroes has always been extremely conflicted/inconsistent. They repeatedly let villains live, then they escape/come back and manage to kill quite a few people and cause billions of $$$ damage before said superhero can subdue them again. It makes Superman and Batman in particular come across as complete retards.

I wonder if we'll get to see one or two innocent civilians actually DIE in this one! I mean New York has only been destroyed around ~5 times in this huge fucking wave of PG13 superhero movies, it's hard to imagine what the total civilian death toll has clocked so far - especially all the deaths caused as a result of structural destruction caused by the superheroes' own actions.

Because I remember walking out of Avengers and especially Man Of Steel thinking "wait so the entire city came under war, buildings toppled, aliens destroyed all the streets with plasma cannons while people were running away screaming - but I didn't actually SEE a single goddamn person get killed. Not even a corpse!"
The awestruck bystanders were either watching from somewhere else as a spectacular piece of destruction happened (just a hundred meters from them) OR in case of Avengers they manage to expertly dodge shit just in time. One scene in Avengers struck me as particularly hilarious when aliens break into office floors and start shooting holes into the WALLS, missing their human targets at point blank range.

This has led me to believe that civilians and bystanders in superhero movies don't actually need to be saved at all, because they're immune from death.

These PG13 superhero movies, seriously...
If you think about it like that, then you should know that the amount of times new york was destroyed over the years, the populace would be very good at getting the fuck out of there.

Looks great! This movie had me sold as soon as they cast the Ninth Doctor as the villain, but the trailers keep getting better and better each time. Plus, any movie where they have a character named Malacath the Accursed piques my interest just by virtue of the awesomely named villain.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a damned good track record so far - consider me sold for a ticket.
