http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-reasons-modern-gaming-doesnt-suck-anti-rant_p2/

Reading the comments on this (why? Gawd knows) has spurred me to one further thought; would it kill people to be positive or constructive?

I know there are things to bemoan about the state of modern gaming, but seriously, if the industry is going completely to the hounds, as so many people seem to believe (perhaps not entirely without reason), then why stick with it and endlessly complain about it, rather than do something about it - either by creativity or support of developers with a preferred ethos - or perhaps decide that there's no point pursuing something that only apparently fills them with contempt?*

Just seems a shame that here on the internet, conversation about video games is by percentage filled with more disgust and contempt than joy.

*should point out here that I'm definitely not condoning horrendous policies with day-one DLC/Vanity content and objectively sub-par content, and am aware that we gamers already do something about it by voting with wallets, so to speak.

No, this is not a terribly well though out post, and I openly invite contradiction and insults as to any aspect of my being.

I don't think anything major is wrong with the industry at the moment, as long as there are great games I will be happy. But it does annoy me when people incessantly complain. Games are experiences which should be discussed and their joys shared openly, rather than the constant complaining and moaning which we see today.

All too often people seek to complain rather than criticise (not something that the escapist is party to, I'll admit, even the most vitriolic rants have a reason behind them)

It's true that sub-par product shouldn't be accepted, but there's a difference between objectively sub-par (I 'unno, server problems, glitches etc) and subjectively sub-par (I didn't enjoy it, therefore it sucks and all those who enjoy it are idiots).

Although...much as I personally can agree with console as well as PC games having the capability of being updated (although releasing unfinished games shouldn't be encouraged), perhaps to iron out player exploits/balancing issues; I can imagine that it's 'not economically viable' for AAA developers to continue work on them.

TL : DR - Difference between rage and criticism w/optional rage.

The comments on cracked might not be the best place to look for a serious discussion.

Just saying...
