Sadly yesterday Gerry Anderson, the man behind the "Supermarionation" shows such as Thunderbirds, Stingray, Captain Scarlet & The Mysterons has died after battling with Alzheimer's.
I don't know how big Thunderbirds or the other shows were in the States, but in the UK Thunderbirds was massive! It was created in the 60s, but got re-shown in the 90s as did his other shows and thankfully my generation got to enjoy these absolute classics!
Gerry Anderson also created live action shows such as Space 1999, UFO, & Space Precinct.
I proudly still have my Tracy Island (although the palm trees are bit worse for wear), and my Stingray ship.
Thank-you Mr Anderson for creating what were my favourite shows ever as a child! I can't wait for my kids to enjoy them! FAB good sir!
